We are seeking a highly skilled Paralegal to join a small law firm in Downtown Houston. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in various areas of law and possess exceptional organizational, relationship building and communication skills. As a Paralegal, you will work closely with attorneys and clients to provide comprehensive legal support for the company. You continuously display a high level of professionalism, integrity, and discretion in handling confidential information, as well as the ability to work well with people at all levels inside and outside the company. 


  • Creating and maintaining client files and forms for practice areas.
  • Assisting with payment processing requests and coordinating billing processes (billable hours).
  • Conduct legal research on various topics and present findings to attorneys.
  • Draft and prepare legal documents, including briefs, pleadings, contracts, and agreements.
  • Calendering client and office related appointments.
  • Assist attorneys with case management and trial preparation.
  • Coordinate document production and manage discovery processes.
  • Review and analyze documents for relevancy and privilege.
  • Answering and routing office phone calls professionally as needed. 
  • Communicate with clients, witnesses, and opposing counsel as needed.
  • Maintain case files and ensure all documents are properly organized and filed.
  • Assist with administrative tasks, such as scheduling appointments, managing calendars, and billing.
  • Consulting with new and existing clients.
  • Stay updated on changes in laws and regulations relevant to the practice areas.
  • Mentor junior paralegals and provide guidance and support as needed.


Required

High school diploma or GED.

Minimum of 5 years of experience working as a paralegal or related role in a law firm or corporate legal department.

Proficiency in legal research methods and databases.

Excellent writing, verbal and tactful communication skills.

Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks efficiently.

Professional demeanor and ability to maintain confidentiality.

Team player with a collaborative attitude.


Preferred

Bachelor's degree in Political Science, Law, Paralegal or related field.

Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations in various practice areas.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office and legal software applications.

Paralegal certificate from an accredited institution.

Knowledge working with Docusign, Drop box, Adobe, TXDocs, FormBuilder, PracticePanther
