Barringer is hiring a Preconstruction Manager to support the Asheville, NC and Greenville, SC market. This position can be hybrid between a home office near Greenville, SC and Barringer's Asheville office 2 days a week. A car allowance will be provided.

The ideal candidate will have 7+ years of experience working with a commercial general contractor and will be responsible for creating and implementing project and bid strategies. This position will do so by analyzing project proposals and historical cost data. Ultimately, this work will help Barringer develop new business opportunities.


Essential Duties & Skills:

Attend pre-bid meetings and walkthroughs

Develop scope

Present budgets

Take offs/quantity surveys

Bid leveling

Scope gap budgeting

Conceptual estimating


Responsibilities:

  1. Know the regional market conditions, construction trends, lead times, pricing
  2. Maintain local industry contacts to learn about opportunities for Barringer
  3. Grow meaningful relationships with trade partners, A/E firms & brokers
  4. Participate in relevant trade organizations & professional events
  5. Identify pursuit-specific strategy
  6. Bring creativity to the approach
  7. Contribute to budgets & constructability reviews
  8. Engage project management team & trade partners
  9. Ensure smooth financial handoff

  • Education and/or Experience: Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in Construction Management or related field of study. 7+ years of experience in commercial construction estimating, project management and/or preconstruction. Desired construction experience includes industrial, upfit and out of the ground projects.
