We are a 10 bay observation unit. My top priority is TM engagement and quality/safety for our patients. I take pride in our team and the results that our unit is able to achieve and maintain. We work closely with our own designated ARNP and MD to ensure our patients are seen and heard. We prep for cath lab and recover. Our patient population is mostly cardiac rule out and stroke/tia rule out. We are a PCU level unit so once on our team we ensure classes/education: examples-ACLS, EKG, Basic Critical Care, Stroke Responder Course, NIHSS, and more.
The type of nurse that I look for is one that can anticipate the needs of the patient and the plan of care, who can communicate and collaborate effectively. 5:1 ratio.
