Opportunity
Skybound is looking for an expert QA Tester with extensive experience and a high skill level with the fighting game genre to bring an eye for detail and passion for quality to everything we make. As a QA Tester, you’ll be embedded with the publishing team, conducting testing in the earliest stages of our projects.
You’ll directly support dev teams, help to validate milestones, set up databases and reporting systems. Principally, you’ll execute testing across multiple platforms, find and investigate bugs, and work to ensure all our games reach a level of outstanding quality and submission readiness.
Reports: This position will report to the QA Manager
Responsibilities: Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Execute comprehensive error testing on all aspects of our games
- Document defects, glitches and inconsistencies in a clear and detailed manner
- Verify fixes, grooming of bug backlog and general database maintenance
- Develop reproduction steps for issues to help focus and maximize dev team fixes
- Minimize downtime by keeping dev team focused on the most important issues
- Test games for compatibility on varied platforms and hardware configurations
- Assess gameplay mechanics, controls, and balance; provide qualitative feedback
- Conduct performance testing for frame rate, memory leaks and other systemic issues
- Contribute to and test for adherence to quality standards and company guidelines
- At the request of dev teams, conduct focused testing on specific features and systems
Basic Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Strong passion for and a deep understanding of combat and fighting game genres
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Experience with bug tracking software and testing methodologies
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Adaptability to changing priorities and tight deadlines
- Understanding of gaming platforms and hardware
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in game or technology-related field
- Deep experience testing combat systems
- High level of skill and achievement in character combat and/or fighting games
- Previous experience in quality assurance testing
- Understanding of game development processes
- Knowledge of version control systems
- Certifications in software testing or related fields
- Knowledge of technical requirements for hardware platforms (Sony, Microsoft, etc.)
Job Type: Regular, Full-Time
Salary Range: $24-26/hour with eligibility for OT
- Actual base salary is dependent on several factors including but not limited to; market dynamics, location and region, experience, specialized skills/training (education), level of responsibility, budgetary considerations, tenure at the company (for current employees), etc.
- The salary range listed is just one component of the total compensation package for employees
- Compensation decisions are dependent on circumstances of each role
