Position: Product Developer-Apparel

Location: 324 Canal Street

Reports to: Collection Director and Production Manager

Position Overview:

As a Product Developer, you will oversee the domestic product development process, ensuring the timely and accurate delivery of samples to global partners. You will collaborate closely with the design, technical, and production teams to ensure that every aspect of the product aligns with the vision of the Creative Director and design team. This role requires a keen attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage all stages of product development—from sourcing to quality control—while ensuring designs are executed precisely and on schedule.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the domestic product development process, managing the sample development cycle from initial concept to final delivery of samples to global partners, ensuring all deadlines are met for market launch.
  • Coordinate with the design team to communicate development updates, track sample progress, and ensure adjustments align with design goals.
  • Organize and manage outgoing and incoming sample collections to sales agents, ensuring efficient tracking and logistics.
  • Oversee quality control of domestic sample making, ensuring all samples meet design, fit, and manufacturing standards.
  • Source and select appropriate trims, fabrics, and raw materials in collaboration with the Creative Director and design team, ensuring materials support the design vision and meet company quality standards.
  • Order fabric and materials from overseas factories, ensuring proper sourcing, procurement, and delivery timelines align with the product development schedule.
  • Manage logistics and track shipments to ensure timely delivery of materials and samples, meeting market deadlines.
  • Manage approval comments for techniques, mock-ups, color standards, lab dips, and strike-offs, ensuring consistency and accuracy across the product.
  • Create and maintain all necessary product development documentation, ensuring clarity and accuracy.
  • Monitor sample and fit development, collaborating closely with pattern makers, fit techs, and production teams to implement fit changes and finalize designs.
  •  Support the product development and production teams in managing timelines and meeting key milestones for product launches.

Qualifications:

  • 2-5 years of experience in garment product development, with strong knowledge of woven and garment construction.
  • Proven experience working with both domestic and overseas factories to manage timelines, production processes, and quality control.
  • Experience ordering fabrics from overseas suppliers and managing logistics to ensure on-time delivery.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel for tracking samples, managing data, and reporting.
  • Strong sourcing experience with trims, fabrics, and raw materials, ensuring alignment with design vision and quality standards.
  • Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to multitask, prioritize, and troubleshoot effectively.
  • Proficiency in Spanish and/or Chinese is a plus.
