The Role (Contract to Hire)

The successful candidate will be responsible for performing the daily husbandry aspects of all animals in compliance with GLP, USDA and AAALAC guidelines.


Responsibilities

  • Handle animals humanely.
  • Daily feeding of animals.
  • Washing and changing of animal cages.
  • Receive shipments of feed, bedding, and other materials.
  • Disinfecting laboratory setting daily.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of logs.
  • Work on routine assignments per written procedures.
  • Ability to recognize deviation from accepted practice is required.
  • Work under close supervision from supervisor or senior personnel.
  • Perform support functions (e.g. Runner function).
  • Ability to work in a team environment and independently as required.
  • Contribute to the overall operations and to the achievement of departmental goals.
  • Perform job specific tasks in compliance with applicable Regulations, International Standards, Policies, and Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Thorough understanding of Good Laboratory Practices and Good Manufacturing Practices.
  • May be required to assist in other departments (as needed).
  • May be required to work Holidays and weekends.
  • May be required to work overtime.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Requirements

  • Must be able to work in a Lab setting with exposure to animals/biohazards/chemical.
  • Must be able to wear appropriate PPE.
  • Must be able to work in environment with minimal noise levels.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time.
  • Clarity of vision.
  • Ability to identify and distinguish colors.
  • Must be able to perform activities with repetitive motions.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs routinely/often/occasionally.
  • Ability to crouch, bend, twist and reach.
  • Ability to push/pull 50 lbs routinely/often occasionally.
  • Ability to work in variable temperatures high to freezing.
  • Inside working conditions.
  • Must not have animal allergies to applicable species in this facility.


Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent education preferred.


Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

  • Proficient in Oral & Written communication skills.
  • Need to be able to read, write and understand English.
  • Proficient in Microsoft (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Good Documentation Practices experience preferred.
  • MS Excel and Windows experience.
