General Summary:

The Safety Technician provides inventory, operational and administrative support functions for the HACI Safety Department.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. The Safety Technician is responsible to assist in the development and implementation of safety and health programs and to ensure compliance with all regulations.
  2. Coordinates, develops, and delivers safety training programs (new-hire, general safety, forklift and other industrial trucks, PAPR respirator etc.) to all personnel.
  3. Perform administrative functions, including data entry, management of training records, development of safety presentations, and scheduling of safety activities.
  4. Assist with setting up new and revised policies in OMS.
  5. Maintain SDS database, including managing new, revised, and obsolete SDS’s.
  6. Assist with creating and issuing Safety Awareness Alerts for Hazard Communication.
  7. Assist with safety training management through the Learning Management System.
  8. Administrate the HACI Safety Committee and recruit new Safety Advocates.
  9. Inspect automated external defibrillators (AED’s) in all buildings regularly.
  10. Completes New Equipment Risk assessments which will require knowledge of Lock Out Tag Out, Electrical Safety, and other OSHA safety requirements.
  11. Coordinates respirator certification activities (questionnaires, pulmonary function tests, fit-tests).
  12. Conducts safety information sharing sessions with associates.
  13. Coordinates required hearing conservation activities.
  14. Serves as facility evacuation coordinator and MERT team member.
  15. Assists the HACI Safety Specialist with other related duties as required, including inventory management, stocking of supplies, PPE delivery to all buildings, etc.
  16. Maintain a high level of responsiveness to team needs by demonstrating excellent attendance and productivity, including arriving on time for scheduled shifts, remaining focused and attentive throughout the entire work shift, and working overtime as instructed by management.



Education, Work Experience, Certification and/or Licensure:

  1. 3+ years’ of safety experience (required)
  2. 5+ years’ related experience (preferred)
  3. 1-3 years’ prior experience in training program development and presentation (preferred).
  4. Valid driver’s license


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  1. Ability to read, analyzes, and interprets technical journals and documents.
  2. Ability to prioritize daily work load, with limited supervision.
  3. Must be proficient in basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Lotus Notes.
  4. Excellent organizational skills.
  5. Excellent interpersonal skills.
  6. Excellent oral and written communications skills.
  7. Flexibility to work off-shifts and weekends as required.

Physical Requirements:

  1. Incumbents may be routinely exposed to equipment operational noise, heat/cold, dust, and/or aircraft equipment, parts, or fuel odors.
  2. Incumbents may be required to stand, sit, walk, move, reach, or stretch for prolonged time periods with no restrictions, as required by job duties.
  3. Work in a safe and professional manner while adhering to all regulatory requirements (FAA, OSHA, DOT, EPA, State, and Federal regulations, etc.).
  4. Read, hear, speak, and see with no restrictions, as required by job duties.
  5. Comprehend and adhere to management directions and/or safety instructions with no restrictions.
  6. Effectively communicate in Business English language.
  7. Pull, push, carry, lift, or move items up to 10 lbs. throughout the work shift without assistance, as required by job duties.
  8. Pull, push, carry, lift or move materials/people/items/equipment weighing up to 50lbs or more during the work shift, with the use of Company provided “reach assistance technology” or “movement assist technology” (fork-lifts, pallet jacks, pulleys, dolly’s, robotics reach equipment, people movers etc.), as required by job duties.
