Position - Heavy Civil Project Manager

Location - Charlotte, NC (Onsite)

Job Type: Full-Time

Job Summary:

The Heavy Civil Project Manager will oversee all phases of civil construction projects, ensuring they meet engineering standards, budget targets, and schedule requirements. This role requires expertise in managing project operations, cost control, quality assurance, and safety compliance, with a focus on delivering successful heavy civil projects.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Plan and manage civil construction projects in alignment with engineering standards and project requirements.
  • Oversee project budgets, ensuring projects meet required margins and profitability goals.
  • Create and maintain project schedules, including regular updates and realistic timelines.
  • Ensure quality control, reviewing designs for compliance with standards, contracts, and specifications.
  • Enforce site safety policies, ensuring adherence to protocols and fostering a safety-focused culture.
  • Develop and maintain all project documentation and correspondence.
  • Collaborate with field management to address issues between project plans and on-site execution.
  • Approve equipment and personnel requisitions prepared by superintendents.
  • Define roles and responsibilities, ensuring clear communication across the project team.
  • Conduct weekly project meetings covering scheduling, costing, and issue resolution.
  • Prepare and submit accurate payment requisitions and financial projections throughout project life.
  • Manage subcontractor and supplier performance, ensuring compliance with contracts and project timelines.
  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of project schedules, milestones, and causes of potential delays.
  • Perform other project management duties as assigned.


Education and Experience:

Required:

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience managing civil heavy/highway projects.
  • Demonstrated experience managing large-scale heavy civil projects.
  • Proficiency in project management software (HeavyJob, BlueBeam, P6) is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of project budgets, scheduling, and contract management.
