Job Summary:

As a Cultural Research Contractor, you will join our vibrant, global Research team. You will have the opportunity to work on stimulating projects, harnessing the client's research objectives as your guide for investigating online data – qualitative and quantitative, unstructured, and structured. Your talent for transforming data into compelling narratives is crucial as you will synthesize data from various sources into engaging reports that offer valuable insights and direction based on research.


In this role, you will navigate through all stages of the research life cycle, from formulating an actionable roadmap to directly delivering solutions to clients. This multifaceted role will see you donning various 'hats': project manager, writer, strategist, data visualizer, and product user.


What You're Good At:

  1. Data-Driven Strategic Thinking: You possess the ability to gather, analyze, and interpret qualitative and quantitative data, distilling it into relevant pieces of information, and using it to build persuasive narratives.
  2. Writing: You have strong writing skills and the capability to guide the client through a story, rather than merely presenting information.
  3. Communication: You can articulate your thoughts clearly and engagingly, establishing robust client relationships based on trust and accountability.
  4. Tech-Savviness: You are comfortable with learning new tools, native online platforms, and new data analysis/process improvement tools.
  5. Social Media: You are familiar with leading social media platforms and adept at hunting for information in the deepest corners of the internet, including open source intelligence (OSINT) techniques.
  6. Ethnography: You enjoy researching behaviours, observing what people do, hypothesizing why, and demonstrating natural curiosity about human behaviour and culture.
  7. Team Player: You are comfortable working as part of a global team and collaborating across teams.


Educational Background:

A Bachelor's degree in Research, Sociology, or Computer Sciences is required. Candidates in the process of obtaining a degree are also encouraged to apply.


Essential Skills:

  1. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  2. Organizational and time management skills.
  3. Comfortable working with numbers and data analysis tools like MS Office, Google Drive applications, Google Data Studio, and Tableau.
  4. A keen interest in people and culture.
  5. Motivated to learn and grow.


Work Arrangement:


This is a 3-month contract role. The chosen candidate will be required to spend a minimum of 2 days in the office in Boston, with the option of extending to 5 days.


Extra credits for prior experience in:


  1. Assisting with the development of new analysis techniques, procedures, and products alongside Product and Data Science teams.
  2. Researching to determine implications and trends revealed by data, and producing written reports and briefings on research findings that offer a comprehensive view of public opinion data.
