Role Overview:


The Head of EV Charging Network Operations will develop and oversee the operations and maintenance of the Electric Era fleet of charging stations. This person will be responsible for triaging network operations issues, delegating and managing service tech dispatch, and ultimately ensuring Electric Era delivers industry-leading uptime and reliability across our fleet of battery-backed DC Fast Charging sites.


The Head of EV Charging Network Operations is responsible for meeting the strict uptime and charging reliability requirements demanded by the EV driver community. This person will oversee that mission, leveraging and driving our internal engineering teams and third-party vendors to actualize a successful outcome.


This person will be directly responsible for technical support related to the corrective/preventive maintenance of EV charger in a specific geographic region, including but not limited to site safety, electrical/electronic system or device maintenance/repair/replacement, site field reports, and other duties as required to properly maintain and operate all EE sites within contractual requirements.


The successful candidate must be able to work independently with little to no supervision and will be required to work in the field under various conditions. Evening or weekend work is rare but may be requested for emergency response. The candidate is expected to join and manage an on-call rotation. Candidates must have a strong background in project management, with the capability to deeply learn both hardware and software technical domain knowledge to execute effectively and autonomously.



Responsibilities:


  1. Serve as central leader, owner, and project manager of all operations- and maintenance-related workstreams.
  2. Design and maintain documentation and communication processes, policies, and procedures for technical support to customers.
  3. Engage with hardware and software vendors in the Electric Era portfolio that have products and warranties that have impacts to our operational reliability.
  4. Manage 3rd party field service providers responsible for on-site maintenance and repair work with a high degree of accuracy and professionalism, leveraging work order management as required.
  5. Capable of coordinating troubleshooting, repairs, and upgrades/revisions to a broad range of DC Fast Charging and BESS equipment.
  6. Ensure on-site maintenance schedules are adhered to and work orders are completed accurately and on time.
  7. In field work including electrical and mechanical preventative and corrective maintenance of site equipment, site field reporting, work order completion, and other work as needed.
  8. Communicate with internal and external customers, as required.
  9. Planned and unplanned overtime and emergency response work may be required.


Qualifications & Preferred Skills:


  1. Strong technical program management skills in an operations environment, ideally managing critical infrastructure with high uptime and reliability requirements.
  2. Bachelor’s degree or higher education in an engineering discipline.
  3. PPE (Personal Protective Equipment)-Certified NFPA 70E (preferred).
  4. 3+ years’ equivalent experience in servicing electrical power equipment in the commercial or utility energy field and/or formal electrical training.
  5. Experience in ticketing systems: Service Desk, Salesforce, Jira, etc.
  6. Knowledge of Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment (ISO 15118, J1772, and electric utility distribution standards).
  7. Experience with remote tech support.
  8. Knowledge of OSHA safety requirements including LOTO, Arc Flash, JHA/JSA, etc.
  9. Ability to analyze and resolve problems independently with a high level of results orientation.
  10. Excellent technical and non-technical verbal and written communication skills.
  11. Strong Microsoft Office skills.
  12. Valid state driver’s license.
  13. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
