Research And Development Technician

RiKarbon is a growing startup with a mission to develop proprietary technologies and high-performance sustainable specialty products. The company’s initial product offerings include renewable base-oils and ingredients for cosmetics and environmentally-acceptable lubricants. In addition to enabling technology development, product scale up and process optimization for initial product offerings, the company is rapidly expanding its technology portfolio to serve broader sustainability initiatives, e.g. waste plastics upcycling, and seeking an experienced Technician who can work independently in a growing multi-functional team environment.
On a daily basis, the Technician will (1) contribute to laboratory operations for condensation and hydrogenation reactions using batch and fixed bed flow reactors, (2) fabricate reactors and accessories under supervision of an engineer, (3) record experimental data, (4) manage laboratory inventory, (5) enforce laboratory safety policies and (6) others.
Requirements
- Must have legal authorization to work in the US.
- Bachelor or Associate degree/diploma in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering or Process Engineering.
- Hand on experience on Swagelok fittings, flow reactor fabrication and accessories is preferred.
- A few years industrial experience is preferred but not necessary.
- Experience in working with high-pressure reactors and reaction systems.
- Operational experience with both small-scale and large-scale laboratory equipment (e.g., glass, Parr and flow reactors).
- Ability to multi-task and quickly switch between activities.
- Results-driven and team-player attitude, willing to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Able to work collaboratively with scientists, engineers, and technicians.
