A UHNW Dallas-based family is seeking to bring on a unique and dynamic role for the family principal who is recovering from a stroke. The role is a combination Executive Administrative Assistant and Nurse Manager. The family principal is a busy philanthropist and art collector who is recovering from a stroke, and her husband would like to bring on a compassionate, positive, and loving person to oversee her caregiving team as well as to provide administrative support and periodically, hands-on care.
The family has several homes throughout the Southwest and they travel over 50% of the year (25% of that being international travel) so one of the key challenges of this role will be manage the caregiver's schedules to ensure there are no gaps in coverage.
Your Role
While wearing your Executive Assistant hat, you will manage a full calendar of medical, personal, social, and travel-related appointments which are all captured on her Outlook calendar. Each morning, you will sit with her to present and discuss the day’s schedule. You pride yourself on strong administration and organization skills and are always up for a new challenge. Specific administrative tasks include setting up her computer and iPad for video conferencing, ensuring all meeting materials are printed well before her meetings start, booking personal appointments such as lunches, hair, and nails, researching and booking some travel and writing thank you notes, birthday and Christmas cards. This requires being tech-savvy and familiar with Microsoft Suite, Abode to be able to print PDFs and using an iPhone (texting, taking pictures, using Uber.) You also enjoy cooking and don't mind preparing a simple lunch or broiling salmon and fresh vegetables for dinner.
As part of managing her schedule, you will be responsible for managing her caregiving team. Currently, she has 3 caregivers who have a rotating schedule. She always travels with at least one caregiver (that includes international travel as well.)
Periodically, you may need to fill in as her caregiver. That role requires shadowing her at all times, as she is a fall risk. You may need to administer medications, help with dressing, bathing, restroom, preparing light lunches/dinners and discretely offering her assistance with eating when needed.
Principal's Personality
The family principal is a poised professional who can walk independently but she is closely shadowed at all times. Her primary challenge is aphasia (difficulty speaking and finding the right words) and limited use of her right arm.
Their home environment can be described as quiet but upbeat. When not socializing, attending a seminar or at a museum, the couple frequently visits one of their other homes in the Southwest or heads out of the country for 7 to 10 days.
Your Personality and Experience
Your style of support and care can be described as discrete, respectful, very friendly and you always wear a smile You are never patronizing but always encouraging and complimenting. Your are a consummate professional.
This role would be ideal for an Executive Assistant to a family who has supported someone with a disability. You may also be a nurse who has shifted on the management side and is looking to work directly with a family. Your experience likely includes working with families who travel extensively, fly privately and require extensive support to ensure their life runs smoothly.
You will be joining a team of seasoned administrators and caregivers with extensive resources.
Candidates interested in the role have held similar hybrid Personal Assistant and Caregiving positions for an ultra-high net worth family. This means they understand the high standards, lifestyle and demands of a busy social and travel schedule. Candidates must live in Dallas (within 25 minutes from DAL airport,) have a current US passport, valid driver's license and reliable transportation. Due to the unique nature of stroke recovery, prior experience supporting clients with a handicap is important to ensure that proper precautions are taken to avoid falling and working through verbal miscommunications.
Qualifications
- 7 to 10 years’ experience in a similar role managing caregivers in a role for a private family or as a nurse.
- 7 to 10 years' experience in an administrative role.
- Strong administrative skill, resourceful and creative, going beyond the satisfactory to exceed expectations.
- Professional but caring communicator.
- A consummate professional with a positive attitude and pleasant demeanor.
- Holds self to high standards.
- Demonstrates flexibility in the number of hours worked.
- Enjoys travel and holds a current US Passport and valid driver’s license.
- Must be able to travel monthly, domestic and international.
- Must have reliable transportation.
Location
Candidates should be based out of Dallas, TX. The family’s residence is near DAL airport but with frequent travel, you must be able to periodically travel with the family.
