Nature of Work
This position may require Statewide travel.
Under general supervision, the Incumbent performs work at the full-performance level by developing the care coordination portion of the West Virginia Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention Program (WVCLPPP), as well as associated policy and procedures based on standards and regulation, provides administrative oversight of and complex technical assistance.
This position:
- Assures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations governing the WVCLPPP. Uses independent judgment to determine appropriate action to achieve desired results.
- Has responsibility for providing consultation on highly complex individual problem situations.
- Develops and delivers training programs related to assigned programs.
- Exercises considerable latitude in determining approaches to problem solving. Work may be performed independently and/or in conjunction with other program or technical area staff.
Performs related work as required.
The Incumbent provides care coordination for children with elevated blood lead levels by ensuring that all recommended services are provided and continued follow up protocols are met per the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines and West Virginia Code 16-35 and 64-42. This will include, but is not limited to, gathering information from families to determine the source of lead exposure, providing education to lower levels, follow up for resting; referrals to Environmental Health; entering data obtained from home assessments; follow up with Providers.
This position is also responsible for maintaining paper and electronic files within the Healthy Homes Lead Poisoning Surveillance System (HHLPSS) and will work collaboratively with the program Epidemiologist, Systems Point of Entry (SPE), Management Information Systems (MIS) and the CDC to effectively communicate any issues within the program database.
This position will also provide education and training regarding prevention of childhood lead poisoning at public venues, community events, and conferences, to target families and professionals who work with families.
This position may require Statewide travel.
Minimum Qualifications
Training: Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university.
Substitution: Additional experience as described below may be substituted for the required training on a year-for-year basis.
Experience: Two (2) years full-time, equivalent part-time paid or volunteer experience in a technical or program area that is related to the area of employment.
Substitution: Postgraduate education in a field related to the area of employment may be substituted for the required experience on the basis of fifteen semester hours for one (1) year of experience.
OR
Master's degree in social work from a regionally accredited social work program from a regionally accredited college or university.
