ROLE SUMMARY

 

·       ARV Technologies, a pioneering biotechnology startup based in North Bethesda, is seeking a Research Scientist to join our dynamic team. We specialize in developing groundbreaking vaccines to tackle urgent medical challenges in infectious diseases and oncology. Depending on experience, the Scientist's title can range from Scientist I, Scientist II to Senior Scientist.

·       This role entails laboratory-based work focused on developing and refining in vitro and in vivo studies for various prophylactic and therapeutic vaccine applications. The ideal candidate will have a robust background in Virology or Immunology and a hands-on approach to molecular biology.

 

Job Description:

·       The Scientist will leverage expertise in molecular biology/virology to conceptualize, optimize, characterize and validate innovative vaccine candidates utilizing mRNA technologies. Candidates should possess practical experience in molecular biology, virology, immunology or related disciplines, with knowledge of DNA viruses such as herpes viruses or hepatitis viruses being highly advantageous.

 

Qualifications:

·       PhD in molecular biology, virology, immunology or related fields with 0-3+ years of relevant experience.

·       Proficiency in virology, RNA biology, and vaccine development, particularly with viruses like, Epstein-Barr virus (EBV), herpes simplex virus (HSV), hepatitis B virus (HBV), etc.

·       Hands-on experience in molecular biology techniques including sequence analysis, gene synthesis, DNA cloning, in vitro transcription and purification, PCR/qPCR,  and protein expression characterization. Proficiency in multicolor flow cytometry analysis to characterize the immune responses induced by vaccination.

·       Ability to support the design and execution of in vitro models and cell-based assays.

·       Highly organized and detail-oriented individual.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

·       Knowledge and experience in immunology and in vivo models preferred, expertise in multicolor flow cytometry analysis is highly preferred.

·       Familiarity with bioinformatics preferred.

·       This position may involve supervising 1-2 Research Associates.
