Budget Bytes is a leading recipe website with over 3 million unique visitors per month and has been providing easy, approachable, and delicious recipes for the home cook for the past 14 years. We are a rapidly growing team with plenty of opportunities for advancement and professional growth in the food and digital media industry. Our sister sites include The Cookie Rookie, Bellyfull, and Mama Knows Gluten Free, and you have the opportunity to contribute to these sites as well.

The Role

We are looking for a new full time Senior Recipe Developer to work together with our culinary team located in Nashville, TN. The Senior Recipe Developer will work closely with the team to create recipes, cooking tutorials, and food related content for social media. The Senior Recipe Developer will be responsible for recipe development, testing recipes, and helping manage the studio kitchen. This position requires some on camera appearances for recipe videos and social media.


Experience

  • 2 or 4 year degree in Culinary Arts with 2 years culinary experience at a sous chef level or higher OR 4 years recipe development content creation on the web required
  • Strong experience with recipe development required
  • Experience being on camera for cooking videos or culinary teaching videos preferred
  • Some personal experience cooking for gluten free community preferred

  • General knowledge of nutrition concepts
  • General knowledge of global food and culture topics
  • The ability to write clear and concise recipes and instructions
  • Food styling skills

  • The ability to teach others
  • The ability to work as part of a team
  • Working knowledge of WordPress 
  • Strong math skills (for calculating recipe costs)
  • Understanding of basic SEO principles
  • Working knowledge of social media platforms including: Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Pinterest, You tube, and Twitter.
  • Bubbly and engaging personality on camera
  • Working knowledge of how to create reels and social media videos


Responsibilities

  • Develop easy, budget-friendly, creative, and on-trend recipes for home cooks
  • Write clear, easy to read recipes, how-to guides, and step-by-step cooking instructions
  • Manage kitchen inventory
  • Occasionally appear in cooking videos, live broadcasts, and social media posts
  • Coordinate with social media manager to create seasonal and on-trend content
  • Coordinate with management on brand goals, industry trends, and performance strategies
