A prominent legal finance company has exclusively engaged Lateral Link to appoint a Vice President of Commercial Underwriting. The organization is an experienced provider of commercial finance to the legal sector with a core expertise in identifying and optimizing the value of legal assets for companies and law firms.


Qualifications

  • Experience: 7+ years of wide-ranging commercial litigation experience from a first-rate US law firm (Am Law 50 or elite litigation boutique), ideally with federal clerkship experience.
  • 2+ years of commercial business experience outside of the law firm, either as in-house lawyer or in a non-legal role, such as consulting, investment banking, private equity or another finance role. This experience could be prior to or after law school.
  • Licensed to practice law in any U.S. jurisdiction.


Core Competencies and Desired Skills

  • a thoughtful litigator with an intuitive sense of the merit, value and risks of litigation; numerate and deal-savvy, with the ability to price risk and explain (both internally and externally) the value of a deal;
  • commercial and financial acumen and experience;
  • a team player who can work collegially with all members of the underwriting and business development teams across global offices;
  • a good communicator and out-going, capable of participating in panels, conferences, and other client-facing business development opportunities;
  • ambitious and ready to work in a fast-paced environment where both your legal skills and financial acumen will be fully utilized.
