Key Responsibilities:

1. Delivery Excellence:

  • Develop and execute global vendor strategies for clinical development programs, particularly in Cell Therapy.
  • Lead contract and sourcing activities for Phase 1b to Phase 3 trials, ensuring customer satisfaction, cost savings, and innovation.
  • Oversee the full lifecycle of contracts, including RFI, RFP, vendor selection, negotiation, performance monitoring, and closeout.
  • Ensure vendor selection compliance by managing risk, benchmarking, rate negotiation, and collaboration with legal, regulatory, and compliance teams.
  • Partner with internal teams to develop study specifications and assess vendor capabilities for program or therapeutic area decisions.
  • Serve as an SME in contract negotiations and management, resolving complex issues and ensuring alignment with organizational goals.

2. Strategic Thinking & Innovation:

  • Analyze and provide recommendations from complex financial and operational data.
  • Leverage industry best practices, benchmarking, and technology to drive continuous improvement in sourcing, cost containment, and vendor management.

3. Problem Solving & Decision Making:

  • Manage vendor-related issues from identification to resolution, escalating high-risk concerns as necessary.
  • Translate operational challenges into sustainable solutions, ensuring smooth execution of clinical studies.
  • Provide data-driven insights to senior leadership for vendor selection and negotiate timelines while maintaining high standards.

4. Influence & Partnership:

  • Collaborate with clinical operations leadership to drive sourcing strategy and vendor management.
  • Build and maintain relationships with internal stakeholders, including legal, finance, and compliance, as well as external vendors.
  • Oversee study-level vendor relationships and manage vendor performance in collaboration with clinical operations teams.

5. Communication & Leadership:

  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels, providing regular updates and influencing decision-making processes.
  • Train internal teams on contract development, budgeting, and administration as necessary.


Qualifications & Skills Required:

  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in a relevant discipline (BA/MS required).
  • 10+ years of experience in sourcing and contracting, with a focus on clinical trials and R&D outsourcing.
  • Deep understanding of the clinical research process, regulatory requirements, and legal frameworks.
  • Proven leadership and problem-solving skills in fast-paced, dynamic environments.
  • Financial acumen, with the ability to analyze complex budgets and cost drivers.
  • Expertise in contract negotiation and vendor management, including RFx processes.
  • Excellent communication skills, with experience collaborating across cross-functional teams.
  • MBA, JD, or PMP/CPSM certification is a plus.
