NOC Operator

  • Works a 4/10 schedule (4-days / 10-hours per day) environment that requires working either day or night shift per the department needs / requirements
  • Monitors multiple computer systems (Mainframe, Microsoft® Windows, Linux)
  • Monitors virtual tape systems for batch processing, updating, and backup cycles as required
  • Operates peripheral equipment as needed
  • Breaks down print reports as needed
  • Reports on abnormal occurrences and takes corrective action
  • Performs proper system shutdown and brings the system back up (recovery)
  • Operates and performs maintenance functions on all equipment in the Data Center
  • Maintains operating records such as generator statistics, power usage, and operations checklists
  • Works with IT staff and business areas to resolve issues
  • Documents all environments / processes as required
  • Monitors systems using Solarwinds, Uptrends and other tools and responds to any issues discovered by these monitoring tools
  • Manages and monitors production schedules as required in IBM mainframe running z/VSE and the following products:

z/VSE running power with Customer Information Control System (CICS) online systems

Required Education & Experience:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Proficiency Microsoft Office Outlook, Excel and Word
  • 3 or more years of computer operations experience with z/OS, z/VSE and associated IBM software systems including running online batch environments
  • Intermediate experience working with Microsoft® Windows and Linux
  • Intermediate experience with scheduling software, standard concepts, practices and procedures within the computer field
