Overview of the Job

Welling Young, LLC has partnered with a rapidly growing, privately held insurance agency catering to a niche vertical. This is a client-facing position with competencies and knowledge of benefit programs, medical funding arrangements, and plan design options. This position works in conjunction with input and guidance with Producers, AVP/Account Executive, and VP of Operations.


Responsibilities

  • Work with the sales team on new business opportunities starting with data collection and review through proposal completion
  • Engage with dealers on a direct basis, as needed, to ensure necessary “go to market” data and information is received accurately and timely
  • Evaluate and outline simple carrier reports as needed for RFP, such as premium vs. claims and loss ratio; summary of year-over-year changes – rates, plan design, and self-funded plan parameters
  • Market all lines of coverages – medical (ACA small group, fully insured, level-funded, self-funded); dental, vision, worksite, and ancillary coverages; prepare RFP, address carrier questions, ensure requested parameters are met
  • Spreadsheet and compare carrier proposals, ensuring accuracy and alignment with requested provisions
  • Prepare proposals including plan and contribution modeling; ability to make recommendations to internal team
  • Remain current on vendor/carrier plans and programs, industry trends and legislation
  • Consistently follow client service workflows appropriately engage internal resources and escalate as necessary
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships by collaborating with coworkers and insurance carriers
  • Assist other team members and act as backup as needed


Qualifications

  • Preferred prior broker and General Agent (GA) experience, 1 – 3 years in a similar role
  • Knowledge of medical, dental, vision and ancillary coverages; level funded/self-funded experience preferred
  • Knowledge of PowerPoint and Excel, experienced with formulas, pivot tables, vlookup, etc.; charts/graphs are a plus
  • Ideal candidate will be detail-oriented and organized, have a sense of urgency, be a problem solver and good communicator; team player and able to build rapport, confidence, and trust externally and internally
