DataStaff is in need of a Technical Writer / Systems Analyst for one of our direct clients in the Richmond, VA area for a long-term contract opportunity.


*This position is hybrid; 2-3 days per week will be onsite


Responsibilities:

  • Work as a key member of the Design and Planning Team for IT network infrastructure projects.
  • Work closely with the PMO office and be responsible for documenting procedures via job aids, templates, forms, flow diagrams, and presentation decks.
  • Create, update training programs, and conduct trainings as required.
  • Analyzing problems; documenting business processes; developing requirements, user stories and acceptance criteria; and managing requirements traceability and testing.
  • Handle multiple projects, and remain flexible and productive, despite changing priorities and processes.
  • Create and update job aids, templates, forms, flow diagrams and presentation decks on the subject of technology project management and the methodologies.
  • Consult with other members of the PMO and subject matter experts within the organization to develop content for documentation and training programs.
  • Work with the Project team members and business stakeholders to understand business processes and pain points
  • Develop expertise in the customers’ business applications
  • Conduct Root Cause Analysis to identify system gaps and deficiencies that require a business, technical or blended approach for resolution
  • Diagram current processes and proposed modifications using process flows, context diagrams and data flow diagrams
  • Discover and document requirements and user stories with a focus on improving both business and technical processing
  • Decompose requirements into Epics and Features and create clear and concise user stories that are easy to understand and implement by technical staff
  • Utilize progressive elaboration; map stories to technical design specifications to be used by internal staff to develop the system modifications
  • Identify and group related user stories into Themes, document the dependencies and associated business processes
  • Assist Product Owner in maintaining the product backlog
  • Create conceptual prototypes and mock-ups
  • Propose alternative solutions that balance cost and benefit, and adequately test a solution’s feasibility for business and technical compatibility
  • Collaborate with staff, vendors, consultants, and contractors as they are engaged on tasks to formulate, detail and test potential and implemented solutions.
  • Perform Quality Analyst functions such as defining test objectives, test plans and test cases, and executing test cases (including regression testing)
  • Coordinate and Facilitate User Acceptance Testing with Business and ensure Project Managers/Scrum Masters are informed of the progress


Knowledge and Skills:

  • Strong background in technology project management.
  • Strong experience in creating written documentation including update job aids, templates, forms, flow diagrams and presentation decks.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and decision-making skills.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills for collaborating.
  • Ability to plan in a rapidly changing environment and to provide guidance for changes as required.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with the demonstrated ability to simplify and briefly, succinctly communicate complex issues to multiple audiences.
  • Exceptional knowledge of both Agile and Waterfall project management principles and practices.
  • 10 years of overall IT experience with emphasis on technology project management.
  • 2 years of experience creating procedure documentation such as job aids, templates, forms, flow diagrams and presentation decks.
  • Be proficient in written communication tools such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio.
  • Experience with networking projects
  • Experience organizing and maintaining Product and Sprint backlogs
  • Experience translating client and product strategy requirements into application requirements and user stories
  • Experience with automated testing tools such as Test Complete


Required Skills:

  • 5 Years - Experience gathering requirements on IT projects
  • 10 Years - Delivering business and systems analysis artifacts such as Business Requirements Documentation (BRD), Requirements Traceability Matrix (RTM)
  • 5 Years - Agile Business Analyst; strong understanding of Scrum concepts and methodology
  • 8 Years - Experience translating business and product strategy requirements into application requirements and user stories
  • 6 Years - Proficient with defining acceptance criteria and managing acceptance process with development
  • 7 Years - Experience creating wireframes and prototypes (using applications such as Balsamiq)
  • 8 Years - Experience with large, multi-module systems
  • 10 Years - Expertise with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, Visio, PowerPoint, Project Server)
  • 8 Years - Experience with Application Lifecycle management (ALM)
  • 10 Years - Exceptional written and oral communications skills and have the proven ability to work well with a diverse set of peers and customers


Desired Skills:

  • 3 Years - Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP) or Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) Certification
  • 3 Years - Experience using Team Foundation Server for agile software development and work item tracking
