This position requires a strong leader who can cultivate strategic partnerships with business units and vendors to drive value and achieve business objectives.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop comprehensive category strategies aligned with stakeholder goals using market intelligence, demand management, sustainability, supplier diversity, and total cost of ownership.
  • Identify and mitigate high-risk areas within the category by leading multi-functional teams.
  • Deliver cost savings projects by gaining support from appropriate stakeholders and meeting organizational savings targets.
  • Provide spend analytics, market research, and cost modeling to support category strategies.
  • Build strong relationships with key stakeholders in the natural gas utility sector.
  • Use industry knowledge and technology to create cost models, leverage spending opportunities, and drive supplier negotiations.
  • Monitor industry trends and best practices, incorporating them into category and execution plans.
  • Research and develop knowledge of assigned commodities/services, including specifications and usage.
  • Work with business units to define the scope and objectives of purchases, fully understanding requirements and assessing risks.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain, Engineering, Communications, or related discipline.
  • 5+ years of relevant work experience in strategic sourcing with responsibilities for large, complex negotiations and a proven record of achieving sustainable cost reduction.
  • 2-3 years of buyer procurement experience.
  • 3-5 years of supply chain procurement sourcing experience.
  • Strong analytical mindset with experience driving value through market dynamics and category management principles.
  • Outstanding communication and presentation skills.
  • Experience in contact management and supply chain with market analysis.
  • Proficiency in RFI, RFQ, RFP, ASAP, and SAP.
  • Experience integrating data from SAP to COUPA is a bonus.
  • Availability to work any shift within a 24-hour period.
  • Availability to work 7 days a week (Monday through Sunday) based on essential worker status during crisis as needed.
