Engineering Technician

Essential Functions


· Build, calibrate, troubleshoot, repair instruments, product or testing equipment

· Modify electrical prototypes, parts, assemblies, or systems to correct functional deviations

· Monitoring and logging CAN communication between vehicle system(s) and fluid fill equipment.

· Identify event driven sequence variations, between the fill equipment and vehicle from the communication logs.

· Setup and operate in-house test equipment to evaluate performance of development parts during evacuation/fill process. Also perform new model part testing on production equipment at customer site

· Effectively document services and installations by completing forms, reports, logs, and records.

· Analyze and interpret test information to resolve design-related problems

· Building business relationships with customers, analyzing concerns, identify solutions, trouble shooting, and keeping services confidential

· Support all quality system requirements – both internal and customer specified.

· Perform trial equipment runs while performing data collection for later review and report integration.

· Perform duties remotely at customer facilities when required – willing to travel outside the Detroit metro area approximately 35% of the year.


Minimum Education Requirements

1. High School diploma or equivalent

Minimum Experience Required

1. Two years of experience in a related electronics or programming position with a strong grasp of electronics and communication fundamentals.


Other Requirements

  • Ability to solve complex problems
  • Ability to perform assigned duties under frequent time pressures in an interruptive environment
  • Knowledge of circuit boards, processors, chips, electronic test equipment, computer hardware and software, including application. Understanding of PLC programming logic a plus.
  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction


Desired Training (before or after hire)

  1. Training in PPE, machine guarding / safety, aerial lift, and lockout/tagout.
  2. Automotive electrical systems.
