Children’s Cardiology, a subsidiary of Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, is comprised of more than 50 pediatric cardiologists providing comprehensive services for patients from before birth to age 21 who have acquired or congenital heart disease. The Director of Clinical Operations serves as the leader for all clinical operations and risk within the organization, regularly visiting outpatient clinic locations across the state of Georgia. This position serves as a business partner to the COO, Directors and other leadership positions within the organization and acts as a liaison with Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Echocardiography or Healthcare Administration; Master’s or advanced degree in Health Sciences or Healthcare Administration a plus.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience as a nurse executive or senior leader of a healthcare organization.
  • Minimum 10 years of management experience in a healthcare setting required.
  • Demonstrated experience in strategic planning, financial management, staff engagement, and physician relations.
  • Knowledge and ability to manage clinical managers and oversee administrative and clinical staff for outpatient practice.
  • Experience in Call Center administration or management preferred.
  • Experience in a pediatric healthcare environment preferred.
  • Experience with electronic medical record system required; EPIC experience preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills and follow-through discipline.
  • Demonstrated excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Facilitate and manage the day-to-day operations of the clinical operations department, contact center and outpatient clinics for practice.
  • Partner with leadership to direct operations for all outpatient clinics; ensuring excellent patient care, clinical efficiencies, and compliance.
  • Develop and implement clinical programs that are identified in strategic and business plans; provide assessment and feedback for strategic planning related to new programs, products and services.
  • Serve as the key point of contact for all clinical issues.
  • Perform routine clinical visits to evaluate clinical staff and clinics.
  • Monitor and report clinical success factors for the outpatient clinical departments including budgetary, quality, compliance and risk.
  • Develop, implement and evaluate programs to promote the recruitment, retention, professional development and continuing education for clinical managers and staff.
  • Accountable for ensuring efficient patient flow and outcomes through collaboration with physicians, other departments, leadership and staff.
  • Develop and ensure success of the departmental goals in all clinical departments to include nursing, triage, sonography, front desk and contact center.
  • Oversee the development and achievement of clinical quality measurements.
  • Responsible for the budget and contract management in all clinical departments.
  • Develop and maintain policies and procedures for patient and clinical departments. 
  • Participate as part of the business development team for the organization.
  • Oversee management of all durable medical equipment and disposable medical supplies.
  • Collaborate with Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta leaders in various departments including cardiac, compliance, risk, litigation and patient experience.
  • Perform other management projects as assigned.
