Job Description:


We are seeking a skilled and experienced MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) Inspector to join our underground light rail project team. This crucial role involves comprehensive oversight and inspection of MEP systems to ensure safety, efficiency, and code compliance throughout the construction and operational phases of our new subway and tunnel infrastructures.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Conduct detailed inspections of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing installations specifically within tunnel environments and subway stations.
  • Ensure all MEP work is performed in accordance with contractual specifications, relevant codes, and safety standards.
  • Collaborate with engineers, contractors, and project managers to discuss and resolve MEP system malfunctions or discrepancies, and ensure timely and effective implementation of solutions.
  • Prepare and submit clear and concise inspection reports, and maintain accurate records of inspections and follow-up actions.
  • Stay updated with the latest industry trends, techniques, and compliance requirements related to underground rail systems.
  • Participate in project meetings and provide technical insights and recommendations to enhance construction efficiency and system functionality.
  • Monitor installation practices and test systems operations to verify system integrity and operation.


Requirements:


  • Minimum of 5-10 years of experience in MEP inspection, with substantial experience in underground construction environments such as tunnels and subways.
  • Experience in electrical distribution systems; substation installation
  • Professional certification in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering is highly preferred:

MEP related certifications and/or trade license in state of California preferred: ICC – Electrical Commercial, ICC – Mechanical Commercial, ICC – Plumbing Commercial, California Electrical Contractor or Certified Electrician

  • Strong understanding of local building codes, electrical codes, and plumbing codes.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret complex blueprints, schematics, and construction documents.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a disciplined approach to maintaining safety and quality standards.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively convey critical information to construction teams and stakeholders.
  • Proven problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines.


Preferred Qualifications:


  • Experience with advanced diagnostic tools and software for MEP systems.
  • Prior role in a major rail or infrastructure project would be highly advantageous.
  • Familiarity with environmental regulations and sustainability standards in construction.
