North is an AWS optimization platform that automates your cloud finance in 3 clicks, allowing you to save 50% on your cloud expenses while spending zero time doing so.


We are looking for a skilled Sr. Cloud Engineer to join us as we scale our AWS based infrastructure and introduce exciting features for our current and future customers. You will be working closely with the CTO and Engineering team on features that will automate the future of cloud FinOps. This is a perfect opportunity to join an early-stage VC funded and high growth start up in the FinTech space. This is a remote-friendly role, allowing you the flexibility to work from anywhere while contributing to helping customer save massively. **We have a growing team in the NYC area and will prioritize candidates in the area.**


Who are we looking for?


The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of AWS architecture, Terraform, serverless computing, and software development best practices. You will be responsible for implementing, maintaining, and debugging cloud-based micro services, ensuring reliability, scalability, and security.


You must be a proactive self-starter with the ability to manage deadlines effectively while remaining flexible for high-priority hotfixes and bug fixes. Excellent communication skills are essential as tasks will come with clear descriptions and acceptance requirements.


We're looking for someone excited to join a super dynamic team and ready to learn on the go. We care more about being resourceful and adaptable than having tons of experience. Startup experience isn't a must, but you should have a startup mentality (multiple hats). Additionally, we value and encourage candidates that take ownership of their work and contribute independently with ideas and improvements.


Requirements (in order of priority):


  • Strong experience in AWS Architecture and Terraform for infrastructure as code.
  • Proven experience in debugging and solving complex problems in cloud environments.
  • Solid software engineering experience with Python, including data engineering pipelines and low-latency data transformation.
  • Hands-on experience managing CI/CD pipelines using GitLab Actions.
  • Proficiency in microservices and serverless architecture using AWS services (Lambda, Step Functions, DynamoDB, API Gateway, CloudWatch, EventBridge).
  • In-depth knowledge of API setup, configuration, and security, including OpenAPI specifications.
  • Strong understanding of AWS security principles and OAuth.


Nice to Have:


  • AWS Technical Certifications
  • Knowledge of Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
  • Experience working in Agile environments, especially with tools like JIRA.
  • FinOps experience (not required)
