Job Description:


Position Summary:

  • The Extrusion Technician will be responsible for basic machine setup, changeovers, troubleshooting, equipment maintenance and basic repair and rebuild.
  • Equipment includes Extruders, Compounders and associated ancillary equipment.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Possess basic knowledge of GMPs, MPs, Process Specifications and WIP.
  • Understand and manage material flow, melt flow, usage, drying, and traceability. Includes differences between types of resin and maintenance of vacuum systems.
  • Assist in troubleshooting resin or mechanical issues.
  • Run extruder: set up/start-up/troubleshoot/die wipes/shutdown; complete required paperwork; perform Tubing inspection, tooling preparation and resin breakdown.
  • Demonstrate comprehension of equipment: functions of Epic, Tooling, Test Systems and Extruder
  • Perform in process changes, changeovers and calibration.
  • Assist in the training of new Technicians.
  • Maintain 5S standards in assigned work areas.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or required.


Qualifications:


Knowledge & Skills:

  • Strong mechanical ability and analytical skills.
  • Creative problem solver with the ability to troubleshoot a variety of processing issues.
  • Sound judgment in the execution of technical/troubleshooting issues.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills to facilitate communication at various levels and areas within the organization.
  • Understanding of computers and computerized controls.
  • Ability to learn new technologies; understand and perform continuous improvement activities.

Minimum Qualifications, Education & Experience:

  • Must be 18 years of age.
  • High School Diploma, or GED required. Technical school background desirable.
  • Up to 3 years of manufacturing experience. Previous experience with extrusion processing desirable.

Work Environment:

  • Work involves use of manufacturing equipment or close proximity to equipment. May be exposed to biohazards and/or chemicals.
  • Work environment can range from clean room and proper gowning requirements to a production area that is open, potentially noisy, and with moving equipment.
  • Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs. and push/pull up to 80 lbs.
  • Recurring physical demands include standing, walking, stooping, crouching, climbing, bilateral motion involving hands, wrists, and upper body.
  • Concentrated visual attention to perform checks on products and components.
  • Typically requires travel less than 5% of the time.
