Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Operations Manager to join our team at our manufacturing facility in Birmingham, Alabama. The ideal candidate will have 15+ years of experience in operations management within a manufacturing environment and a proven track record of leadership, efficiency improvements, cost savings, and fostering a positive company culture. As Operations Manager, you will oversee day-to-day operations, coordinate maintenance activities, lead teams, and ensure the facility runs efficiently while maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety. This is a critical role requiring a strong leader who can drive continuous improvement and support organizational growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership & Team Management: Lead, motivate, and develop a high-performing operations team. Provide clear direction, set goals, and ensure alignment with company objectives. Foster a positive and collaborative work culture focused on accountability, safety, and operational excellence.
  • Operational Oversight: Oversee all aspects of manufacturing operations, ensuring smooth workflow, production scheduling, inventory management, and on-time delivery of products. Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to ensure efficiency, quality, and productivity.
  • Maintenance & Continuous Improvement: Manage preventive maintenance programs and troubleshoot equipment issues to minimize downtime. Drive a culture of continuous improvement using lean principles and other process optimization methodologies to reduce waste, improve quality, and lower costs.
  • Cost Control & Budgeting: Develop and manage the operations budget. Work with the leadership team to identify cost-saving initiatives and ensure resources are being utilized effectively.
  • Health, Safety & Compliance: Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal safety regulations. Promote a safety-first culture, conduct regular safety audits, and lead initiatives to improve workplace safety.
  • Cross-Department Collaboration: Collaborate with other departments (e.g., Engineering, Quality, HR, and Supply Chain) to ensure seamless coordination and alignment of operational processes.
  • Strategic Planning & Reporting: Report regularly on operations performance, including areas for improvement, cost savings, and other key business metrics. Participate in long-term strategic planning to ensure continued growth and competitive advantage.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: 15+ years of experience in operations management within a manufacturing environment.
  • Leadership: Proven leadership experience with the ability to lead teams effectively, communicate expectations, and drive results. Strong interpersonal and coaching skills are essential.
  • Operations & Maintenance Knowledge: Deep understanding of manufacturing processes, maintenance systems, and troubleshooting techniques. Experience with managing maintenance teams and optimizing equipment performance.
  • Process Improvement: Demonstrated experience in driving continuous improvement initiatives, including lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other process improvement methodologies.
  • Cost Management: Strong understanding of cost control, budgeting, and resource optimization. Ability to identify and implement cost-saving strategies without compromising quality.
  • Safety Focus: Knowledge of OSHA regulations and experience managing workplace safety initiatives.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, Business, or related field preferred.
