Job Description


The Controls Engineer will play a critical role in the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of control systems for manufacturing processes. This position requires a strong understanding of PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) languages and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to ensure the efficient operation of automated systems. The ideal candidate will possess a 4-year degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, along with 3-5 years of relevant experience. Experience in the automotive industry, particularly within Tier 1 or Tier 2 suppliers, is highly desirable.


Responsibilities:

Design, develop, program, and troubleshoot PLC-based control systems to automate manufacturing processes.

Collaborate with mechanical and electrical engineers to integrate control systems into overall machine designs.

Specify and select appropriate sensors, actuators, and other control components to meet system requirements.

Develop HMI (Human-Machine Interface) screens for operator interaction and system monitoring.

Implement safety PLC programming and ensure compliance with relevant safety standards.

Conduct testing and validation of control systems to ensure functionality and reliability.

Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance to production teams as needed.

Participate in commissioning activities for new equipment installations and upgrades.

Develop and maintain documentation, including electrical schematics, control logic diagrams, and user manuals.

Stay current with advancements in control system technology and recommend innovative solutions to improve efficiency and productivity.

Adhere to company policies, procedures, and safety standards at all times.


Skills:

Experience in the automotive industry, particularly within Tier 1 or Tier 2 suppliers, is considered a plus.

Proficiency in CAD software for electrical design (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN).

Familiarity with safety standards such as ISO 13849 and IEC 62061.

Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Willingness to travel occasionally for project-related activities.


Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.

Strong understanding of PLC languages (e.g., ladder logic, structured text, function block diagram).

3-5 years of experience in controls engineering or a related field.

Ability to read, write, and understand English.


Compensation starts at $125,000 depending on experience


Schedule is standard office hours 8am-5pm
