Children’s Research Triangle (CRT) is currently seeking a full-time Child and Family Therapist to provide trauma-informed therapy for children and their families. This position will include work at our Loop clinic and community partner sites, and work in the south suburbs including an office in Flossmoor 2 days a week.


The ideal candidate has experience providing therapy in clinic and community-based settings, and works from a trauma-informed, relational, and systems-oriented lens.

Must have confidence working independently while also prioritizing collaboration with child and family support teams.


Children's Research Triangle (CRT) is a non-profit transdisciplinary organization dedicated to the healthy development of children and their families, specializing in working primarily with youth who have experienced trauma/maltreatment and/or have been prenatally exposed to drugs and alcohol. We prioritize creating collaborative partnerships in order to provide on-site intervention and training in under resourced Chicago communities.


Our community-based clinicians aspire to build strong and meaningful relationships, and they work not only with traumatized youth but also their caregivers, families, teachers, principals, caseworkers, and innumerable others comprising the fabric of children’s lives. Seeking to fully understand a child's strengths and challenges, life circumstances, behavioral issues and mental health status, CRT staff address issues affecting youth through comprehensive screening and assessment, short and long-term therapy, , caregiver psychoeducation, community-building and professional training and consultation. We use this spectrum of services as a base for all programs, and then tailor the interventions to fit the individual, family, and organization with whom we work.


Responsibilities include:

  • Individual, dyadic, and family therapy
  • Conduct clinical assessments of complex case histories through use of clinical interviews and standardized measures
  • Develop treatment plans with client collaboration to determine goals, objectives, and best practice treatment
  • Maintain clinical records by following protocols, adhering to timelines, entering and updating data, completing progress notes
  • Work collaboratively with support and service systems to provide high quality effective mental health care to children and their families
  • Engage in collaborative reflective consultation groups


Skills, Qualifications, and Requirements:

  • Master’s or Doctoral Degree in Social Work, Psychology, or related field
  • Two years of clinical experience and post-clinical licensure desired
  • Bi-lingual in English and Spanish encouraged to apply
  • Experience conducting biopsychosocial assessments, clinical interviews, and observations in addition to formulating a comprehensive conceptualizations.


Experience with standardized measures desired

  • Development and implementation of treatment plans
  • Clinical training in trauma-informed treatment, child development, and attachment theory
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and strong work ethic
  • Ability to effectively collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to determine appropriate treatment and support plans
  • Experience providing psychoeducation and consultation to helping professionals and parents/caregivers
