Position Overview: A leading mining organization is seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to provide expertise in rock mechanics and ground control. This individual will be a proven leader, guiding a team of geotechnical engineers and ensuring the stability and safety of the mining operation. The successful candidate will play a critical role in developing and maintaining geotechnical plans, performing inspections, and supporting both short- and long-term planning efforts.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead a team of geotechnical engineers, providing mentorship and promoting a strong safety culture.
• Update and manage the Ground Control Management Plan and Crown Pillar Management Plan.
• Conduct inspections of underground excavations and provide recommendations for ground control measures.
• Provide guidance to short-term planning teams, ensuring alignment with long-term geotechnical goals.
• Advise long-term planners on mine design, stope sizing, sequencing, and ground control strategies.
• Develop and interpret 3D stress models to support mine design, ground support, and re-entry protocols.
• Oversee quality control testing for ground support and backfill, ensuring compliance with geotechnical plans.
• Manage geotechnical instrumentation systems and associated Trigger Action Response Plans (TARPs).

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Geological Engineering, Mining Engineering, or a related field.
• 8-10 years of experience in mining operations, with a focus on underground hard rock mining.
• Strong understanding of geotechnical, geological, and mining engineering functions.
• Expertise in underground mine design, rock mechanics, and support systems.
• Proficiency in software such as Microsoft Office, Map3D, Deswik, RocScience, and Leapfrog.
