Position Summary

The Image Solutions Product Developer is responsible for managing the entire product development process, ensuring that designs are transformed into products that meet quality, cost, time, and customer standards. This individual will have proven success in multi-tasking, thinking on their feet, and maintaining positive collaboration with peers. This individual will partner closely with Design, Account Management, Sales Management, and other related divisions. This position will report to the Product Development & Technical Design Manager.


This is a hybrid position. Our best fit candidate will have the ability to work in our Torrance, CA headquarters 2 days per week, as needed.


Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with designers to understand design concepts and specifications
  • Management and maintenance of PLM system
  • Source and develop fabrics, trims, and other materials that align with design and quality standards; create and maintain fabrics & trims library
  • Develop and manage product costing, ensuring products meet target margins
  • Implement and maintain product quality standards throughout the development process; address and resolve any quality issues that arise during development and production
  • Internal product development coordination: Maintain active WIP report for the customer base, from design hand-off to pre-pro; communicate updates with internal account management and sales team on an as-needed basis
  • Overseas vendor coordination: Manage active WIP report for all vendors, maintain day to day vendor relationships; track and confirm vendor commitments
  • Manage physical sample library, lab dips, fabric approvals, and decoration approvals in the Torrance home office
  • Manage sample shipments to and from vendors & customers including tagging, categorizing, approval receipts, and internal approval documentation
  • Own product timelines and communicate ETAs to Design/PD Manager and required departments
  • Place and manage sample purchase orders with vendor partners
  • Special Projects as needed


Qualifications

  • 6-8 years of experience in apparel product development
  • Degree in apparel with a focus in Fashion Design, Product Development, and/or Technical Design
  • Experience working directly with overseas factories; domestic a plus
  • Strong understanding of the product development process with a technical background
  • Strong understanding of pattern, fit, and sewing techniques
  • Strong understanding of fabrication; woven and knits
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational and follow-up skills
  • Ability to work with an entrepreneurial spirit and positive work ethic
  • Transparent communication, open to asking questions
  • Position requires the individual us able to to lift a minimum of 15 lbs., reach with hands and arms, bend and use a step ladder to organize sample closet
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a high level of quality and attention to detail
  • Adobe Creative Suite CC and Office 365
  • PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) required
  • Netsuite experience not required but is beneficial for the applicant
  • Base Salary: $75,000/year
