LOCATION: Brooklyn Park Corporate Office (ONSITE)


DEPARTMENT: Finance


IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: CFO STATUS: Exempt


SUPERVISES: Credit staff


POSITION SUMMARY:

Responsible for overseeing an organization's credit operations, ensuring strict adherence to credit policies and standards to minimize company risks through credit screening and effective collections management. This role involves making decisions aligned with the company’s short and long-term goals, prioritizing tasks, establishing timelines, conducting regular reviews and assessments, negotiating with external stakeholders, and coordinating activities among managers and supervisors.


FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Develop strategic initiatives to optimize customer satisfaction through tailored credit offerings
  2. Extend credit to qualified customers to bolster sales initiatives
  3. Conduct comprehensive credit investigations and furnish credit references as needed
  4. Ensure established job-specific credit limits are maintained
  5. Develop customer-friendly and efficient policies and procedures, such as job start protocols, to streamline operations for staff and enhance service delivery
  6. Provide support and training to sales staff on credit processes and their respective roles
  7. Assist sales staff in managing customer relations and resolving issues effectively
  8. Manage dispute resolutions with customers promptly and professionally
  9. Aid the COO (Chief Operation Officer) in conducting review of commercial contracts


Responsible for securing collateral to safeguard receivables

  1. Ensure timely filing of lien notices, mechanic’s liens, and mortgage paperwork
  2. Obtain personal guarantees as part of collateral acquisitions



Collection of receivables

  1. Maintain Days Sales Outstanding (DSO) within acceptable parameters
  2. Issue lien waivers, payoffs, and manage mortgage and lien satisfactions
  3. Address legal notices promptly and lead efforts to resolve associated issues
  4. Address customer complaints regarding unpaid accounts, lost discounts, and finance charges promptly and effectively
  5. Manage accounts receivable for one location
  6. Manage Commercial Portfolio
  7. Manage Employee Portfolio


Leadership of the Credit Department

  1. Set standards and provide performance feedback for direct reports
  2. Ensure staff are informed about all company communications
  3. Develop a clear career path for employees with the Credit Department


EDUCATION: Minimum of 2-year degree or 2 year post high school education

4-year degree preferred


EXPERIENCE:

  • 7 years minimum of credit experience covering all aspects of credit
  • 5 years minimum leadership and staff development


CERTIFICATION:

Required (Through NACM - National Accounting Credit Management):

  • CBA (Credit Business Associate)

and

  • CBF (Credit Business Fellow)

Preferred:

  • CCE (Certified Credit Executive)

  • Proficient in negotiation techniques
  • Demonstrates resilience and composure under pressure
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Advanced mathematical ability
  • Knowledgeable in loans and lending procedures
  • Excellent attention to detail

Committed to standard work practices and dedicated to making a positive impact

  • Microsoft Office software, especially Excel
  • Proficient in interpreting financial statements and credit reports
  • Math and Accounting skills
  • Excellent written, and verbal communication (including phone etiquette)
  • BisTrack and / or Epicor preferred/ helpful



ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Ability to sit for long periods of time.
  • Ability and willingness to drive to all Scherer Bros. locations as needed
