The VP of Operations will:


  1. Work closely with the owner to execute the vision of the company, uphold the core values, drive revenue, and control expenses & employee turnover.
  2. Ensure core processes are up to date and followed by all team members.
  3. Scale the company from 650 units under management, to 1000 and beyond.


RL Property Management has a singular focus on residential rental properties, and their goal is to establish long-term relationships with serious real estate investors who own multiple properties and are willing to provide well-maintained homes to residents of central Ohio.


Job Description


As the VP of Operations for RL Property Management you will be responsible for leading nearly all functions of the business. They are looking for a high-performing individual with a leadership mindset and the ability to drive action in an operationally-intense environment.

This person will have complete ownership of Operations at the company (Leasing, Clients, Tenants, and Maintenance departments). They should take a holistic view of all operations activity at the company – spotting problems, recommending improvements, taking (occasionally drastic) action when needed, and providing oversight to the entire business.



This person reports directly to the CEO and will be responsible for:

  • Maintaining key metrics at or above targets with an emphasis on overall profitability of the company.
  • Completing quarterly and annual rocks (projects) assigned to them.
  • Leading & managing the operations team (4 departments). Leading weekly 1:1s with direct reports with performance metrics, provide guidance and mentorship, monitor and correct performance issues, perform annual performance reviews, provide guidance on compensation.
  • Ensuring the team is operating at a high level, communicating well, and meeting or exceeding individual performance metrics and department scorecard metrics.
  • Leading weekly leadership and department meetings
  • Guiding company operations toward the Vivid Vision (3-year picture)
  • Taking on special projects & requests from the owner, follow them through to completion or explain why they should not or cannot be done. Function as the “Integrator” (EOS term).
  • Supporting and maintaining the company core values and culture
  • Implementing improvements to core processes, employee workflows, general company policies
  • Handling complex or difficult questions that bubble up from various employees and departments
  • Overseeing hiring, training, and performance of all direct reports utilizing Predictive Index and “The A-Method For Hiring” (TopGrading/Who book) or a comparable hiring system.
  • Making sure the companies processes and systems are positioned to support rapid growth


You will be given the authority and budget necessary to make this happen, as it is paramount to the success of the company as whole.



Requirements for Consideration


  • This is not a remote role and this person will be expected to live in or near Columbus, OH.
  • Experience in leading teams in the home services industry is preferred, but not required..
  • College degree is strongly preferred.
  • Comfort level using modern tech solutions (Slack, Notion, Google Docs/Sheets, Airtable, ChatGPT etc.) is preferred, but not required.
  • Familiarity with the Traction/EOS business method is also preferred.
