Payroll Specialist

Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Payroll Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing payroll processes, ensuring accurate and timely payment to employees, and maintaining compliance with applicable regulations. This role requires a strong understanding of payroll systems and financial software, along with excellent data entry skills. The Payroll Specialist will work closely with the Human Resources department to support employee inquiries and resolve payroll-related issues.
Responsibilities
- Process payroll for all employees accurately and on time using payroll software.
- Maintain employee records in the HRIS system, ensuring all data is up-to-date and accurate.
- Perform data entry tasks related to payroll, including new hires, terminations, and changes in employee status.
- Collaborate with the Human Resources team to ensure compliance with labor laws and company policies regarding payroll practices.
- Assist in the preparation of reports related to payroll, including tax filings and year-end reporting.
- Handle inquiries from employees regarding payroll discrepancies or questions about their paychecks.
- Support accounts payable functions as needed, including processing invoices related to payroll services.
- Conduct audits of payroll data to ensure accuracy and compliance with internal controls.
- Utilize knowledge of double entry bookkeeping principles to maintain accurate financial records related to payroll transactions.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Payroll Specialist or similar role in Human Resources or accounting.
- Proficiency in financial software and HRIS systems.
- Strong data entry skills with a keen eye for detail and accuracy.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively under tight deadlines.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to interact effectively with employees at all levels.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information responsibly.
- Knowledge of relevant labor laws and regulations governing payroll practices is a plus.
