WalterLane is pleased to lead the search for a Senior Manager, US-EU-Asia Dynamics to join the Washington DC office of a prominent European think tank. Through research, analysis, forums, and audiovisual and multimedia content, the organization focuses on educating and engaging their audience on the economic, political, and social challenges facing the United States and Europe.


This is an exciting opportunity to use your Master’s degree and 4+ years of related post-graduate work experience, and strong knowledge of international relations, the European Union and China to develop and execute research portfolio and have a real impact on the work of the organization.

In this role you report directly to the Director, Transatlantic Relations. HYBRID work week.


RESPONSIBILITIES

As Senior Manager you will develop and execute a research portfolio with a particular focus on China, using traditional and strategic forecasting methods to identify issues of transatlantic concern in the Asia Pacific region. You will conduct research, author written pieces, create multimedia content, and collaborate with other team members. The range of topics may include technology standards and regulation, trade and investment, the impact of geo-economic power struggles, and emerging geopolitical threats.

  • Conduct research for major transatlantic research products with a focus on China
  • Contribute to and write short and mid-length pieces at the core of the US-EU-Asia relationship
  • Prepare policy content and related multimedia deliverables, including animations, podcasts, and video interviews, to transform research into accessible content
  • Build and maintain a wide range of contacts within the foreign and economic policy community in the US, EU, and Asia
  • Attend and participate in events relevant to the work of this portfolio
  • Manage a crowdsourced forecasting program/platform focused on geopolitics and the transatlantic relationship, and contribute to international outreach for the site
  • Liaise with government officials, diplomatic leaders, think tanks, private sector and NGOs in Washington, DC, Brussels, Berlin, and throughout Asia
  • Provide event and budget management
  • Provide program support for various panel discussions, conferences and workshops


ABOUT YOU

  • Masters’ degree in international relations, China or Asia Pacific regional studies, international economics, or a related field
  • Must have a minimum of 4+ years of post-graduate related work experience
  • Strong knowledge of international relations, sinology, and economics
  • Existing network of US, EU, and Asia policy experts, corporate leaders, and related parties
  • Exceptional verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Excellent research and writing ability
  • Experience working with public and private sector organizations in the US, Europe, and Asia
  • Proven success in working independently on projects and as part of a team
  • Strong desire to be part of a dynamic, fast-paced, collaborative office
