Role Description

The Technical Assistance Coordinator is responsible for supporting all aspects of the technical assistance program, ensuring applicants and borrowers receive the support and guidance needed for success. This role plays a key part in delivering exceptional customer service to Freedom Equity applicants and borrowers, working closely with the team to prepare applicants with the knowledge required to complete applications and repay loans.


Reporting to the Director of Business Programs, the Technical Assistance Coordinator will play a pivotal role in fostering relationships with applicants, borrowers, and clients, providing essential support at every stage of their journey. This position requires the ideal candidate to not only possess a deep understanding of the unique challenges faced by Black entrepreneurs but also to demonstrate an unwavering commitment to enhancing their business and financial education. The successful applicant will be dedicated to continually learning and applying innovative strategies for communicating information in an engaging, relatable, and accessible manner. By tailoring support to meet the diverse needs of our clients, the Technical Assistance Coordinator will help empower them to succeed and thrive in their entrepreneurial endeavors.


Duties & Responsibilities

The Technical Assistance Coordinator position requires maintaining an open, communicative, working relationships with fellow team members, borrowers, potential clients, consultants, vendors, financial institutions, partners, other public and private sector institutions and peers in the field of community development, as well as the FEI Board of Directors and volunteers. Due to the nature of this position, this individual must be highly organized. Key responsibilities include:

  • Plans and executes technical assistance activities, including workshops, webinars, and conferences,
  • Assists in organizing and convening meetings (independently create agendas, follow-up and ensure accountability on deliverables; scope development),
  • Provide a range of direct technical assistance to borrowers and FEI Partner programs,
  • Assists with department grants management, monitoring budgets and organizing data for grant reporting
  • Manage important clerical duties of the office, answer calls, and reply to emails, including welcoming guests, helping them find the respective officers of the company.
  • Accurately capture department’s technical assistance hours, compile results of surveys and evaluations.
  • Support special projects as assigned.



Job Requirements Education and Experience: 

  This position requires a team player who is naturally organized, appreciates spreadsheets, is comfortable with gathering data, is comfortable presenting information both in person and virtually, and providing 1:1 technical assistance. The ideal candidate will have:

  • Excellent oral and written communication, organizational, and coordination skills.
  • Proficiency using office software and CRM systems,
  • Comfortable making public appearances and speaking to groups,
  • Experience in curriculum design and implementation,
  • 2 to 4 years of experience in training and technical assistance programming or small business support services
  • Ability to work with a diverse range of community-based groups
  • Ability to organize and handle multiple priorities simultaneously
  • A keen attention to detail
  • Excellent listening skills
  • Adaptability and startup experience
  • Valid driver license, auto insurance and reliable transportation is required.
  • Ability to multitask, work in a team environment, gather data, and prioritize tasks as needed.
