Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled High Voltage Substation Electrical Purchasing Manager/Estimator to join our team in Raleigh, NC. This role will be pivotal in estimating, developing scopes of work, pricing, and procuring site-specific high voltage Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) installation subcontracts for power transmission and substation construction projects throughout the United States.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and manage estimates and scopes of work for electrical installation subcontracts related to GIS substation projects.
  • Solicit and evaluate bids from subcontractors, negotiate pricing, scope, and terms, and finalize contracts with subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with subcontractors and vendors to support ongoing and future projects.
  • Accurately interpret preliminary electrical drawings and collaborate with engineering teams to create precise project cost estimates.
  • Partner with subcontractors, equipment manufacturers, vendors, and internal teams to support detailed cost calculations and proposal development.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Business Management preferred, or a combination of relevant experience and education.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Power Transmission, Substation, or Electrical Construction, or 10+ years of relevant work experience. Candidates with more extensive experience may be considered for a higher-level position.
  • Proven experience in purchasing and estimating within the electrical construction industry.
  • Strong understanding of electrical systems and components used in high voltage substation construction.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without requiring current or future employer-sponsored work authorization. Siemens Energy employees with existing visa sponsorship may be considered for internal transfers.
