Job Description

Softrim LLC is a leading provider of end-to-end technology solutions, including Low-Voltage construction and design services, Access Control, Surveillance, Life Safety, A/V, Managed IT Services, Networking, and more. We have offices in various locations with major clients across the country.

We are seeking a Low-Voltage Estimator to join our Low-Voltage Services division. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate and detailed cost estimates for low-voltage commercial projects comprising structured cabling, access control, surveillance, nurse call, life safety, and other low-voltage systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of low-voltage technologies and excellent analytical skills to evaluate costs and project requirements.

Responsibilities:
  • Create initial Rough Order of Magnitude (ROM) budgets for low-voltage projects
  • Prepare accurate cost estimates for low-voltage projects, including materials, labor, and equipment
  • Collaborate with business development team, design team, and project managers to develop cost estimates and internal project budgets and schedules
    • Analyze project specifications and develop cost estimates that meet project requirements
      • Collaborate with accounting team to prepare and update schedules of values
      • Assist project managers with cost estimates for change orders
      • Assist procurement and project management teams with reviewing and analyzing proposals from vendors and subcontractors
        • Ensure that all estimates are accurate, complete, and timely
        • Create accurate and detailed bills of materials (BOMs) for low-voltage projects
        • Create project tickets with BOMs in ConnectWise ticketing system and work with project managers to continuously update the same
        • Assist project managers with creating initial schedule for materials purchases
          • Maintain knowledge of industry standards and best practices to ensure that all estimates are up-to-date and competitive
          • Maintain knowledge of jurisdictional requirements for new construction, generally, and low-voltage systems to ensure that all estimates account for local requirements
        Requirements:
        • Bachelor's degree or equivalent industry-related experience in construction estimating, management, or similar
        • Experience in the construction industry, including client relations, design, management, budgeting, and project finance
        • Experience with Project Estimating and Management software, Autodesk PlanGrid, Adobe Acrobat, and ConEst estimating software preferred
        • 5+ years of new construction project estimating experience with a commercial contractor required
        • 5+ years of related estimating experience specific to low-voltage technologies (Access Control, Audio/Visual, Cellular DAS, Emergency Responder BDA, Computers, Networking (Switches and Wi-Fi), POS Systems, Nurse Call and Roam Alert, CCTV Surveillance, Structured Cabling, Telephones, etc.) is preferred
        • Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)
        • Valid Driver License with a clean driving record
        • English language (fluent)
