We are looking for a motivated Data & Technology Analyst to develop and maintain data processing software and database management. The ideal candidate will also possess the technical expertise to act as a network, computing, and data security generalist working in concert with our external IT vendor. Duties of the Data & Technology Analyst include coordinating with senior executives and other professionals to create unique data infrastructure, manage data across the organization to accommodate the changing needs of the company and develop programs to create custom reporting for both internal analysis and end client informational needs. The ideal candidate should have at least five years of experience in the financial services industry, with a degree in information systems, statistics, computer science or another quantitative field. Experience working with portfolio accounting systems within the financial services industry and a general understanding of portfolio analysis is a plus. The successful candidate will turn data into information, information into insight and insight into business decisions.

 

Data Analyst Responsibilities

  • Interpret data, analyze results using statistical techniques and provide ongoing reports.
  • Develop and implement databases, data collection systems, data analytics and other strategies that optimize statistical efficiency and quality.
  • Acquire data from primary or secondary data sources and maintain databases/data systems.
  • Identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets.
  • Filter and “clean” data by reviewing computer reports, printouts, and performance indicators to locate and correct code problems.
  • Work with management to prioritize business and information needs.
  • Locate and define new process improvement opportunities.

Technology Analyst Responsibilities

·        Act as the Firm Liaison to an external vendor that provides comprehensive managed IT services and support that include:

o  Perform troubleshooting of system failures

o  Test and configure software and maintain and repair hardware and peripheral devices.

o  Inspect LAN infrastructure and fix minor or major problems/bugs.

o  Coordinate upgrades and maintenance without deterring the operations of the company.

o  Ensure data backups are being performed as scheduled.

o  Provide technical direction to co-workers on computer and network usages and offer advice and instructions.

o  Consult with management on all technical issues and methods to improve security of systems and data.

o  Monitor and coordinate the firm website working with our webhosting service to ensure domain security.

o  Implement updates to the website as needed.

 

Requirements

  • Proven working experience as a data analyst or business data analyst.
  • Technical expertise regarding data models, database design development, data mining and segmentation techniques (experience working with Advent APX a plus)
  • Strong knowledge of and experience with reporting packages (Business Objects etc), databases (SQL, C++, Python etc), programming (XML, Javascript, Microsoft Visual Basic, Windows Batch Files and PowerShell Scripts or ETL frameworks)
  • Knowledge of statistics and experience using statistical packages for analyzing datasets (Excel, SPSS, SAS, etc)
  • Well versed in Wordpress
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Adept at queries, report writing and presenting findings.
  • Proven experience as network technician or relevant position
  • Firm understanding of cybersecurity best practices
  • Outstanding diagnostic, problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Good communication skills
  • Good knowledge of LAN/WAN networks, TCP/IP protocols and network technologies
  • Hands-on experience with common software and hardware
  • BS in Information Systems, Computer Science, Statistics or other quantitative field
