About the Role

Impact Capital Real Estate is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Complex Litigation Attorney to join our legal team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in handling multifaceted and high-stakes litigation cases. This role requires exceptional legal acumen, strategic thinking, and the ability to manage and lead complex legal proceedings from inception through resolution.


Key Responsibilities

Case Management:

  • Lead and manage complex litigation cases, including class actions, multidistrict litigation (MDL), and other high-stakes legal matters.
  • Develop and implement case strategies, conduct legal research, and prepare legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and briefs.

Court Representation:

  • Represent clients in federal and state courts, arbitration, and mediation proceedings.
  • Conduct depositions, hearings, and trials, presenting evidence and arguments effectively.

Discovery Process:

  • Oversee the discovery process, including drafting and responding to discovery requests, conducting depositions, and managing e-discovery.
  • Collaborate with experts and consultants to develop case theories and gather evidence.

Client Interaction:

  • Provide legal advice and counsel to clients on complex litigation matters.
  • Maintain strong client relationships, keeping clients informed of case progress and developments.

Team Collaboration:

  • Work closely with other attorneys, paralegals, and support staff to ensure comprehensive case management.
  • Mentor and guide junior attorneys and staff, fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment.

Settlement Negotiations:

  • Engage in settlement negotiations, mediation, and alternative dispute resolution (ADR) to resolve cases favorably for clients.
  • Prepare and review settlement agreements, ensuring all terms are in the best interest of the client.

Compliance and Risk Management:

  • Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and ethical standards.
  • Identify and mitigate legal risks associated with complex litigation cases.

Investigation and White-Collar Crime:

  • Conduct and oversee investigations into potential white-collar crimes, including fraud, embezzlement, and other financial misconduct.
  • Develop strategies to address and mitigate issues related to white-collar crime, working closely with internal and external stakeholders.


Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the bar in at least one jurisdiction.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in complex litigation, including experience in class actions, MDL, and high-stakes legal matters.
  • Proven track record of successful case management and courtroom experience.
  • Strong analytical, research, and writing skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced start-up environment.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in a large law firm or corporate legal department.
  • Prior experience in a leadership or supervisory role.
  • Certification in litigation or related field.
