PRIMARY DUTIES:

  • Support the Operations team on trouble-shooting efforts on internal and customer concerns.
  • Interface with other Engineering personnel to establish process controls and product test requirements.
  • Support the Operations team on trouble-shooting efforts on internal and customer concerns.

  • Interface with customers and supplier as needed.
  • Monitor product performance.
  • Create and/or update quality documents such as Quality Alerts and Work Instructions.
  • Interpret test results, write reports, and effectively communicate with plant personnel and customers.
  • Maintain appropriate quality records which include, but are not limited to, certifications and inspection records.
  • Participate in training and coaching of inspection personnel in the technical performance of their duties.
  • 4S activities
  • Audit production processes and receiving materials to ensure quality.
  • Support supplier defect activity including creating and issuing defect reports.
  • Support customer issue activity by issuing RMA, quality alert, containment, and sorting activities.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and issue corrective actions for internal and customer issues.
  • Monitor and report out KPI data.
  • Manage suspect parts and hold area daily.
  • Support in APQP and PPAP activities as required.
  • Create and/or update Control Plans
  • Participate in creating and/or updating quality inspector training material.
  • Support Supplier Quality on supplier visits as required.
  • Ability to lead or co-lead kaizen activity.
  • Ability to support customer meetings/visits with little to no support.
  • Perform risk analysis when internal defects are found.
  • Internal auditor and support audit activity as required.
  • Ability to make sound judgments and take action with little to no support from management.
  • Ability to lead customer meetings/visits with no support.
  • Back up for manager as needed.
  • Support training of other Quality Engineers
  • Ability to lead 4S activity improvements


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or manufacturing preferred.
  • 6 or more years quality experience preferably in the automotive industry preferred.
  • Experience as a QA engineer in a IATF16949 registered manufacturing operation.
  • Exposure to Automotive OEM Supplier quality practices and procedures.
  • General knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerances.
  • Handle moderately complex issues.
  • Prior work experience with automotive PPAP process and customer interface is highly desirable.
  • Experience with ISO 9001 and TS16949 preferred.
  • Must be a self-starter and be able to adjust quickly to changing priorities and assignments.
  • Experience in using Statistical Process Controls.
  • Demonstrated commitment to quality and related issues.
  • Demonstrated ability to work efficiently with limited direction and supervision, and function in a team-oriented environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal.
