A New Jersey-based services organization is currently seeking a new eLearning Design Manager for a promising opportunity with their growing staff.

*** Please note this is a hybrid role asking the hired person to report primarily onsite***

The eLearning Design Manager oversees the implementation of Learning Management System (LMS) eLearning programs by cultivating strong relationships with internal stakeholders. Leads the adoption and customization of eLearning solutions across departments, ensuring they meet managerial training needs effectively. Manages team members in developing high-quality eLearning content in-house and manages partnerships with external eLearning content providers, overseeing the procurement process. Provides oversight and support for end-users in LMS navigation and usage. Analyzes digital learning metrics to drive improvements in educational outcomes and compliance with standards. Acts as a subject matter expert on eLearning methodologies, staying abreast of the latest innovations in digital education. Assumes additional responsibilities as needed.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Strategic Oversight and Development of eLearning Programs: Leads the creation, rollout, and continuous improvement of eLearning programs, encompassing mandatory and optional training to meet compliance, department-specific needs, and broader organizational goals. Utilizes tools like Articulate 360 for direct development and oversees a team of content designers and developers.
  • Program Evaluation and Reporting: Analyzes program outcomes, aggregates data, and synthesizes findings to report to the Director of Learning Strategies. Utilizes metrics and feedback to drive enhancements in eLearning effectiveness and alignment with business objectives.
  • Cross-Departmental Collaboration: Partners with internal departments, aligning eLearning and training initiatives with business goals, customer requirements, and identified skills gaps. Sources and secures the necessary training materials, ensuring seamless integration of in-house and external learning resources.
  • Project and Vendor Management: Acts as the primary coordinator for eLearning content projects, liaising with IT, Procurement, and HR departments to address challenges and align objectives. Manages vendor partnerships to ensure content and services meet learning philosophy and stakeholder needs, ensuring effective communication and progress reporting.
  • LMS Administration and Support: Partner with LMS Program Manager to manage LMS, including course assignments, tracking, and comprehensive reporting on training activities. Supervises and provides end-user support and serves as a point of contact for eLearning and training-related inquiries across the organization.
  • Stakeholder Engagement and Advisory: Facilitates stakeholder meetings to report on eLearning project progress, discuss deliverable timelines, and address potential risks. Advises on LMS and e-learning best practices, serving as a subject matter expert to ensure the adoption of innovative and effective digital learning strategies.
  • Performance Management Using KPIs: Oversees the execution and implementation of eLearning content solutions, monitoring status, milestones, risks, and quality indicators to evaluate the success and return on investment of educational initiatives.
  • Additional Duties: Assumes additional responsibilities as assigned, prepared to tackle emerging challenges and opportunities in the evolving landscape of eLearning and digital education strategies.


Education, Experience, and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree (Master's Preferred) in Education, Educational Technology, Instructional Design, or a closely related field. A minimum of five years of hands-on experience in the end-to-end process of designing, implementing, evaluating, and managing eLearning curricula is essential.
  • Proven expertise in developing eLearning content using Articulate 360 and integrating vendor-sourced educational programs. Demonstrable experience in leading cross-functional project teams, with a strong understanding of Agile project management methodologies preferred.
  • Demonstrated expertise in Learning Management System (LMS) operations and a solid grasp of digital education best practices, as evidenced by previous project successes or roles held.



Knowledge and Skills

  • eLearning Technologies Mastery: Proficient in LMS (e.g., LMS, Docebo) and content creation tools (like Articulate 360), with a solid understanding of eLearning standards (SCORM, xAPI).
  • Project Management: Strong project management capabilities, from initiation to closure, with a preference for Agile methodologies, adaptable to other effective frameworks.
  • Instructional Design: Expert in instructional design principles, capable of crafting compelling eLearning content, leveraging modern design tools and strategies.
  • Data Analysis for Decision Making: Adept at analyzing eLearning metrics to inform strategic decisions, enhancing program effectiveness and learner engagement.
  • Comprehensive Relationship Management: Exceptional at managing both internal (across departments) and external (vendors) relationships to align eLearning initiatives with organizational and stakeholder objectives.
  • Effective Communication: Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, essential for leading meetings, achieving stakeholder consensus, and fostering teamwork.
  • Risk Identification and Problem-Solving: Skilled in identifying and mitigating risks, and resolving issues to ensure smooth eLearning program execution.
  • Compliance and Alignment with Goals: Ensures eLearning programs comply with relevant standards and support educational and organizational aims.
  • Continuous Learning and Expertise: Demonstrates deep knowledge of digital education trends and LMS best practices, committed to ongoing professional development.
  • Team Leadership: Proven leadership in guiding instructional design and content development teams toward excellence, fostering innovation, and collaborative success.
  • Vendor Relationship and Quality Oversight: Manages vendor relations effectively, ensuring content quality and compliance meet high standards.
