Position Overview: The Quality Control Manager will oversee all aspects of Incoming Quality Control and Finished Device Quality Control. The role is critical in ensuring that all products meet the highest quality standards while optimizing processes to maximize throughput. This position requires a strong engineering background combined with exceptional people management skills. The Quality Control Manager will lead a team of 15-20 employees and report directly to the Director of Quality.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership & Management:
  • Supervise and mentor a team of 15-20 quality control staff, including inspectors and technicians.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and accountability within the team.
  • Develop and implement training programs to enhance the skill set of the quality control team.
  • Conduct performance evaluations, set goals, and provide regular feedback to team members.
  • Quality Control Operations:
  • Oversee Incoming Quality Control (IQC) to ensure that raw materials and components meet specified standards.
  • Manage Finished Device Quality Control (FQC) processes to verify that final products conform to quality and safety standards.
  • Develop, implement, and refine quality control procedures to improve efficiency and accuracy.
  • Process Optimization:
  • Collaborate with the engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain teams to optimize quality control processes.
  • Identify areas for process improvements and implement changes to increase throughput while maintaining or improving product quality.
  • Utilize data-driven approaches to monitor and analyze quality metrics, identifying trends and addressing potential issues proactively.
  • Compliance & Documentation:
  • Ensure that all quality control activities comply with industry regulations and company standards.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation related to quality control processes, inspections, and audits.
  • Prepare and present quality reports to senior management and participate in quality audits as required.
  • Problem Solving & Continuous Improvement:
  • Lead root cause analysis and corrective action efforts for quality issues.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the quality control department, leveraging lean manufacturing principles and other methodologies.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry best practices and emerging trends in quality management.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Quality, Mechanical, Industrial, or a related field).
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in quality control, with at least 3 years in a managerial role.
  • Proven experience in managing and developing teams in a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Strong understanding of quality control processes, methodologies, and tools (e.g., Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with a data-driven approach.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead and motivate a team.
  • Familiarity with industry regulations and standards (e.g., ISO, FDA).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification in quality management (e.g., CQE, CQM, Six Sigma).
  • Experience in the medical device manufacturing industry or a similarly regulated environment.
