Overview: 

The Mechanical CAD Engineer will be responsible for ensuring Maxxsonics products are delivered to our exacting standards by working closely with partners and suppliers. This will involve having a good understanding of our design goals and resolutely pressing for designs which give optimal performance.


Responsibilities:

  • Able to follow Maxxsonics engineering’s standard operating procedures.
  • Responsible for static, dynamic design, and analysis of parts and conducts feasibility studies and testing on new and modified designs. Benchmarking of competitor products and research of related topics.
  • Provides design drawings, 3D CAD, and documentation needed for all projects. Understands the design rules for plastic injection molding and metal forming.
  • Directs support personnel in the preparation of detailed design, design testing, and prototype fabrication as needed.
  • Ability to multitask and work on more than one project at a time.
  • Attend regular meetings with design and engineering teams to ensure that projects are optimally positioned and packaged.
  • Review drawings and design proposals from partners, making a clear and compelling case for improvements where required.
  • Support sales and marketing teams by providing technical input and attending events.


Qualifications:

  • Knowledge and experience with 2D and 3D CAD using Solidworks (other CAD software a plus) with emphasis on solid modeling (surface modeling skills a plus). Proficiency in FEA tools is a plus.
  • Mechanical engineering degree or an equivalent work experience (3+ years of experience). Design For Manufacturing (DFM) experience is very welcome.
  • Ability to innovate and bring new ideas into products.
  • Well organized with ability to track multiple complex projects involving multiple stakeholders with excellent verbal & written communication skills.
  • Methodical and scientific approach to any technical problem. Decent mathematical modeling skills and intuition.


Preferred Skills:

  • You should have an outgoing personality that likes to collaborate with your peers on your team. You should be willing to network yourself inside and outside Maxxsonics.
  • Knowledge of automotive audio industry (OEMs, audio platforms, audio technologies). Natural interest and experience working on car audio systems and a passion for automotive audio. 
  • Experience using a digital task management tool such as Asana.
  • Familiarity with 3D printing (FDM) and related software (Cura, Blade, etc.).
  • Familiarity with CNC routing / machining and related software (Fusion 360, Mach 3 or 4, etc.).
  • Willing to travel locally and overseas if needed.
  • Working knowledge and some exposure to basic electronic hardware design.
  • Experience with basic lab equipment (calipers, oscilloscopes, power supplies, multimeters, etc.).


Education:

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent work experience (3+ years of experience).


Location:

  • Gilbert, Arizona. Working on-site is required.
