Data Engineer - Remote

NOTE: The candidate MUST be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident and must be able to complete/pass/hold a public trust investigation.


Daily Responsibilities

  • Gather data specific requirements for new projects and help shape requirements where there are gaps.
  • Ensure the database architecture across client systems, adheres to standard methodologies and established patterns to ensure alignment to the client technology roadmap and Technology Reference Model.
  • Understand the impacts of a new project to existing systems/work in the data ecosystem, ensuring compliance and required data exchanges.
  • Assess the database landscape and future projects, identify what data is required and how to normalize data and simply database structures, ensuring optimal design of new systems compliant with roadmap.
  • Assess various data sources and identify data quality issues
  • Help evolve the technology roadmap for consolidated repositories to normalize data and increase data sharing.
  • Optimize the database management cost incurred by the client (OCIO) to obtain cost efficiencies and data effectiveness.
  • Design, develop, implement and translate business requirements and the overall organizational data strategy, including standards, principles, data sources, storage, pipelines, data flow, and data security policies.
  • Collaborate with data architects, data scientists, and other stakeholders to help formulate and execute client’s data strategy.
  • Communicate and define data architecture patterns in the organization that guide the data framework.
  • Lead data teams to develop secure, high-performance, and reliable big data and analytics software and services.

Requirements:

  • 10+ years of experience in data engineering, with a focus on data integration, data transformation, and data warehousing.
  • Good understanding of various data structure and data management approach
  • 7+ Years of experience in data modeling and architecture required.
  • Experience with Cloud development for data processing including experience doing ETL processes. Experience in a large enterprise with a high performing technical team.
  • Experience in designing and developing data pipelines for Data ingestion or Transformation.
  • Experience/exposure with handling large-volume data
  • Python programming experience required.
  • Familiarity with data integration patterns and best practices.
  • Experience with data cleansing, profiling, and domain-specific data quality assessment.
  • Good understanding on Data Governance Compliance, Data Warehouse Integration, Data Modeling
  • Experience in Data Quality Management
  • Experience working in an Agile development environment, with an understanding of Agile principles and practices.
  • Experience working in code repositories (i.e., GitHub) to support CI/CD.
  • DBA skill is a plus
  • Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • BS/BA degree in Computer Science, Information Sciences, or related IT discipline.
