Are you a seasoned engineer with a strong background in Highway Design? We're recruiting on behalf of a leading firm for a Transportation Department Manager to join their Trenton, NJ office. This is an exciting opportunity for a growth-oriented professional to lead and expand a dynamic team, driving the success of various transportation projects.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the Highway Department with a focus on project execution and support of Project Managers across a broad range of transportation projects.
  • Apply strong engineering judgment to maintain quality and achieve financial goals.
  • Collaborate closely with regional and office leadership, providing strategic advice on project scope, cost, and scheduling, and identifying opportunities for innovative solutions and partnerships.
  • Engage directly with clients, regulatory agencies, and stakeholders to understand their needs and address design and permitting challenges.
  • Mentor and develop design staff, sharing expertise in NJDOT and NJTA processes and procedures.


Qualifications:

  • 20+ years of experience in Highway Design.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering (Master’s degree may substitute for 2 years of experience).
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in New Jersey; a New York State license is a plus.
  • Exceptional communication skills, including proposal writing, presentations, and problem-solving abilities.
