Role Description

This is a full-time role for an Assistant Interior Designer at Haas Design in Newport, RI, with flexibility for some remote work. The Assistant Interior Designer will be responsible for assisting with design projects, collaborating with the design team, creating design concepts, conducting research, communicating with clients, and participating in site visits.   • Client communication: Arrange meetings and consultations, greet clients, and respond to phone calls and emails 
  • Social Media / Website Admin: consistently plan out our social media posts as well as update our website with new, completed, and in progress projects
  • Project management: Prepare budgets and schedules, and collaborate with contractors on deliveries and installations 
  • Product sourcing: Research and source finish materials, fabrics, lighting, and furniture 
  • Design development: Create space plans, floor plans, and CAD drawings 
  • Sample preparation: Provide samples and mock-ups to clients and designers 
  • Administrative support: Update client databases, handle correspondence, and help to maintain an orderly office
  • Vendor coordination: Deal with vendors such as furniture suppliers, hardware stores, and contractors 
  • Installation support: Prepare partners and vendors with information for installation, and provide tools and to-do lists during installation 


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in interior design or relative field
  • Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, SketchUp, Microsoft Office (Excel) and Adobe Creative Suite
  • Must be knowledgeable in interior design principles, materials, and furnishings, as well as current design trends
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ideally local to Rhode Island, and can easily commute 5x a week to Newport, RI.
  • Any experience in Social Media or Website Design is a plus
  • Previous experience or internships in interior design is a plus
