Samaritan Health System, located in Watertown, NY, is seeking a Licensed Nursing Home Administrator for their hospital based long term care facility. The Long Term Care Administrator will have the responsibility of providing leadership, staff development, budgeting, and management of key services at the facility and is ultimately responsible for the overall operations of the nursing home.

Responsibilities also include:

  • Provide leadership to all facility staff in meeting the goal of providing quality resident care.
  • Responsible for establishing financial and clinical goals for the facility
  • Day-to-day clinical and administrative activities of the facility, including profit and loss responsibility and ensures compliance with all state and federal regulations.
  • Maintain and guide the implementation of facility policies and procedures in compliance with corporate, state, federal, and other regulatory guidelines.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of and ensure compliance with all governmental regulations and company Quality Assurance standards.
  • Manage turnover and ensures adequate staffing through the development of recruitment sources, and through appropriate selection, orientation, training, and staff education.
  • Possess understanding of organizational policies and procedures including DOH regulations
  • Promote and guide initiatives to improve facility operations to meet goals and objectives
  • Ability to multi-task and manage multiple objectives simultaneously
  • Possess ability to lead others and inspire them to achieve desired results
  • Maintain a safe, sanitary and pleasant environment for residents, visitors, and volunteers and good working conditions for employees.
  • Ensuring resident census remains at capacity as well as controlling of costs for financial stability
  • Encourages staff involvement, customer focus, leadership initiatives and sets standards for all staff.

Qualified candidates must have a strong working knowledge of reimbursement regulations and nursing practices and procedures, as well as the laws, regulations, and guidelines governing nursing homes and long term care providers. Areas of responsibility include improving quality and fiscal management.

A Bachelor’s Degree in Hospital and Health Services Administration, Business Administration, or a related degree. The qualified candidate must possess a current, unencumbered NYS Nursing Home Administrator's license or meet the licensure requirements of New York State.
