The Head of U.S. Petcare Brand Communications is responsible for the strategy, planning, and execution of communications for the U.S. Petcare product portfolio and brands. This role is a member of the U.S. Petcare leadership team and reports to the Head of U.S. Commercial Operations Communications.


This is a 6-month contract position, hybrid in Parsippany, NJ. Please only local candidates apply.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute proactive communications plans for key products and portfolios in collaboration with marketing teams to build awareness and support business objectives.
  • Align brand communications with overall messaging for the Petcare division and corporate identity.
  • Manage media relations for brands in coordination with corporate media colleagues.
  • Lead pet owner crisis communications for U.S. pet care product issues.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, including marketing and communications counterparts, to ensure consistency across programs and initiatives.
  • Oversee agency and partner management within the brand marketing framework.


Qualifications and Skills:

  • Proven ability to lead communications at both strategic and tactical levels.
  • Strong advisory skills to influence business decisions and drive alignment across functions.
  • Capability to prioritize competing demands in a fast-paced environment while maintaining quality and consistency.
  • Innovative problem-solving skills with a focus on achieving business outcomes.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to simplify complex information.
  • Proficiency in managing agencies and fostering collaborative relationships across functions and levels.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and planning skills.


Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, English, or a related field. A master’s degree or additional certifications in communications is a plus.
  • 8-12 years of experience in internal and external brand communications within a large organization, preferably in animal health or pharmaceuticals.
  • Proven track record in developing and implementing strategic communication plans.
  • Experience in B2B2C communication and partner/agency relationship management.
