As a key representative of our company, this role provides exceptional service to exceed customer expectations. The Project Manager (PM) drives projects from start to finish, serving as a central leader and resource across departments. This individual builds a high-performance environment, aligning with company goals while holding themselves and the team accountable to high standards.

Primary Responsibilities

The PM oversees, manages, and coordinates all project-related responsibilities, including assessing risks, managing contracts, schedules, submittals, and overseeing quality and cost. They guide the full construction process from planning to closeout, collaborating with internal departments, negotiating contracts, managing subcontractors, coordinating with architects/engineers, and overseeing customer relations.

Key Duties

  • Project Planning: Analyze bid documents, drawings, specifications, and scope to pinpoint high-risk elements and requirements. Collaborate across departments to assess and proactively manage risks, assembling a project team to optimize efficiency and cost early in the design process.
  • Scheduling: Develop and manage project timelines with milestones aligned to company objectives. Engage actively with both internal and external stakeholders to track progress from project inception through to closeout, ensuring profitability and customer satisfaction.
  • Reporting: Provide regular updates to the Director of Project Management, gathering accurate project data to keep the team informed. Identify and report any impacts on profitability, efficiency, or legal exposure.
  • Contracts & Change Orders: Handle project contracts, negotiate terms, and mitigate risks. Oversee compliance with contract terms and negotiate subcontracts with vendors. Manage all change orders, claims, and disputes, and maintain a detailed change order log.
  • Billing & Collections: Coordinate with the Contract Administrator on monthly billings. Set up project values, ensure timely billing, and monitor collections, including retention management.
  • Customer Relations: Act as the primary company liaison, ensuring that customers receive top-quality service and have a positive project experience. Document and manage project-related communication.
  • Closeout: Oversee punch list completion to secure final customer approval. Coordinate submission of project closeout documents, manage retention collections, and facilitate a post-project review to capture key lessons learned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Architectural Engineering, Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, Structural Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 5–10 years of project management experience in commercial construction.
  • Skilled at reading and interpreting construction and shop drawings.
  • Able to manage multiple tasks, prioritize, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced setting.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Bluebeam; familiarity with AutoCAD, Tekla, and Trimble products is advantageous.
  • Physically able to navigate plant or job site conditions and lift objects up to 50 lbs. as needed.
  • Able to work in outdoor conditions as required, with occasional travel (within 150 miles of Aurora, IL).
